I ran a search on these forums for "300ZX master cylinder" and have done a lot of reading concerning the brake upgrades available for the 240SX. I have also gone over this page...

http://importnut.net/300zxbrakeswap.htm

The only thing I'm curious about is which master cylinder is optimal for the 300ZX front brakes with stock brakes in the rear? The reason I ask is because I've read that with the 300ZX brakes + stock rears the 1 1/16" master cylinder can be touchy. That page seems to prefer the 1 1/16" master cylinder, but he's using the rear 300ZX brakes.

So would the 1" master cylinder be better?

I like a firm pedal feel because it makes controlling the throttle with my heel easier, but I don't want it to feel like I'm fighting a brick wall.

I know this question is borderline subjective in nature, so I'll say that I loved the brakes in my '89 RX-7 convertible, and disliked the brake feel in both my '02 Spec-V and '02 WRX. I got used to both the Sentra and Subaru, but prefered the feel of the old Mazda best because it was more firm.

I have the exact combo your are asking about. I have the Z32 front brakes with the stock rears on my S14, with the 1" 300zx master cylinder. The pedal feel is firm, not touchy, with zero fade. When I installed the front brakes, I did the master cylinder at the same time. So I can't compare the current pedal feel to one without the 300zx master cylinder.

I got it for pretty cheap new at NAPA, reman. I highly recommend the 1" master cylinder, feels great.

Thanks for the input man. I guess I'll try the 1" first, and as long as if it costs less than $300 (lol) it won't be too much of a loss to get the 1 1/16" if I don't like it.
