Hey everyone, looking into doing the 300zx front brake conversion, read up and found used crap on ebay for 300+ dollars! I priced out this:Brand new master cylinder = $23.99 Cardone front calipers (2) complete with pads fully loaded = $165.98Cardone new front rotors (2) = $85.98

Total 375.95 for all new stuff, give me a reason not to go down to kragen and order these up, why the heck does used nasty crusty 300zx brakes go for so much, are they really better than cardone reman. calipers?

1. you will have to redrill the rotor unless you have 5 lug already2. ebay + ignorance = inflated prices3. Auto Zone will have a core charge as well, although you should be able to return your old calipers to avoid this(just dont mention to the clerk that they are not realy 300zx calipers..)

yes u can do that, but if go and ask them to show u the brake calipers, there not the same as the OEM, i tryed doing this and the only way u ll get the OEM calipers that say NISSAN on them, its if u buy the re-manufacture calipers.. which in other words same thing as OEM.. go look at the calipers first..

PS. a machine shop charged me 50 bucks to redrill then into 4 holes..

If you have a junkyard close to you, you could try looking there too. I got my rear brakes pretty cheap from a local nissan only junkyward. The front calipers are remanufactured. If you are looking to get aluminum front calipers make sure you order them from a 90-93 (i think) twin turbo... I ordered mine for a 95 and got the iron calipers. Not a huge deal unless you are totally picky about weight.

Brand new master cylinder for $23.99? That's pretty cheap if it's the right one, at that price. Most people prefer the 1 1/16" 300zx master cylinder along with the stainless steel lines as it gives a better pedal feel.

At my local autozone, the 300z calipers go for $220. Factor in performance pads, rotors (proper holes for 5-lugs, drilled, and zinc coated), stainless steel lines, and a 1 11/16" MC. When it's all said and done, you're probably looking at about $420-$500 for everything.

that sounds more like what i paid for. i paid 550. For pads, brake lines, rotors, get them redrilled to 4 lugs, calipers.

Here's what I paid: R32 calipers - $260+SH Rotors (slotted and drilled) - $139+SH Project Silvia Lines(F+B) - $139 Rotors drilled for 4 lug - $60That is for front and rear. I still don't have the E-brake done so that will be another $100 or 2. Gives you an idea anyway.

http://www.rockauto.comI did mine here and found it to be cheaper than any walk in place, the 5 lug swap is a wallet killer but makes things easy all the way around; wheel selection, spacers, rotors being in perfect balance from the factory, new wheel bearings...etc.

Here is my tab so far:

Rear hubs, rotors, calipers, 1-1/16" Master Cylinder, and e-brake lines: $250 from a junkyard

Front Calipers: $125 from a fellow NICO member

Front Brembo Slotted and Drilled Rotors: $87 on eBay

SPL SS Brake Lines: $90

Ichiba front 5 lug hubs: $300

Still needed: Coilovers ($1110 KTS from SPL), 5 lug wheels that will clear brakes, performance brake fluid, and performance brake pads.
