Hey guys, Im new to the older Z cars and MAY be picking up a 300zx (83). I used to own a 240sx and kinda want something older to work on. For a project.

Its 5spd, N/a, has 180 xxxkms on it and it looks pretty decent condition.

Questions!-Can you do a full interior swap fairly easy? The interior is UGLY (But well kept) red.-Do the NA's have a bit of power? More than a 240?-Can you turbocharge the NA's or at its age would it just blow the engine do to its age and mileage.-Are the frames as poorly made as 240s?-Do 300zxs make good drift track cars?-Are the engines as reliable as most nissans?-Any problem ares I should look for when I go see it?

Thanks

yes.na's have 160 hp and 173 ft-lbs.yes, and probably (unless you know what you're doing). http://redz31.comno. z31s have no frames.no. lightest z31 was still about 3000 lbs.more so actually. they've been restricted by a number of factors. The VG has produced over 700hp on the stock bottom end for a considerable amount of time.http://z31.com/lookfor.shtml

when turbo'ing the 280zx it's easir to just take the whole engine turbo and all form a donor turbo car

as fro the chassis, the 240z was very early attempt at unibody, and is quite flimsy, the 240sx is actually quite well made, and the s130 (79-83 280ZX) is a substantial improvement on the earlier chassis designs

problems, look for rust! all Z's seem to suffer this affliction and it can ruin a car of this vintage, floor pans anfd frame rails are the largest concern but if it's not glass or rubber look for rust!

as you can tell people are responding to different cars. Either you have an '83 which is a 280zx (S130) or you have '84 300zx (z31).

this bit of info might get you better responses and better advice.

Not trying tobe a d!ck, just needed some clearification.
