Recently while driving my Na 1993 300zx 5spd i've run into an issue while driving at around 60-65 MPH in 5th gear. While driving at that speed my car starts to act funky and it will started decelerating as if it is in neutral. What is even more odd is the fact that even while the car is in its neutral-like state if I press the gas the engine will not rev up like it would in neutral. To "fix" this all I have to do is take the car out of 5th gear and put it right back into 5th gear. If anyone has any idea what this issue could be your insight would be greatly appreciated.

What happens if you take it out of 5th gear and left it in neutral during this "weird neutral-like state"?

Almost sounds like the engine is shutting off at 60 mph and putting back in 5 gear is pop starting it again.

Any recent maintenance? are they up to date? Any ecu codes?

not sure what to say here.

I'm not entirely sure because their is usually a car behind me so I need to get going again.

I guess it could be pop starting it. For recent maintenance I just changed the oil and had an inspection done at my mechanics and I asked him if he could figure it out (he is a Nissan only mechanic) he told me they couldn't reproduce the problem I was having. As for any codes there are no lights on the dash but I may get it checked and see.

Not all codes throw a CEL. Could be MAF related. Next time leave it in 5th and press the clutch in. See what it does. Seems like itsa300zx might be on the right track.
