I realize that this has been discussed over and over again in other threads/articles/sites but I haven't found a definite concrete answer. My stock front rotors are shot and as a result I would just prefer to do the entire 300zx brake swap. My question is whether or not the stock s13 7 spoke wheels will give enough clearance for the 26mm aluminum calipers from the 300zx. I know that the 30mm will not clear but I think I read somewhere that the 26mm ones will. I'm pretty poor right now and I don't want to go buy new wheels along with all the other stuff that I need for the swap right now when I can pay my rent on time instead. I plan on getting aftermarket wheels later on but right now that isn't really isn't as important as decent brakes. I apologize in advance if this is too nubbish of a quesiton.

PS first post on NICO after lerking for over a year. you guys have a great community.

post a picture of what the backside of your wheels look like and I can tell you if they will clear.

basically, the kind you don't want has two ridges and is pretty symetric all around, the one you do want has like different sized grooves in the casting on each spoke. It's really hard to describe, I'm looking for the thread on FA right now.

as far as i know, the stock alloys (same ones in my sig pic) will clear the 26mm caliper.

there's THE definitive brake swap guide. That guy went very in depth for the article and should answer all of your questions.

bad:good:

if you have the good wheel, you will clear the 26mm calipers; close, but it'll clear.edit: i've done 26mm calipers on a wheel that has the good spoke design and I can attest to the fact that it does work.

go look for yourself. Yours being a 93/94.. I'd be willing to bet you have the bad ones. I don't know the exact situation because I had a base model and have had 5 lug swap was one of the first things I did. I can't say this for sure, but I think the zenkis had the good spoke design.

i have a 92. but i can't quite remember what design i have. i'm putting the sil-vert on the lift tomorrow night to do some routine maintenance, so i'll check it then. I'm thinking it's the bad design, which is not good for me since I want to make my stock alloys my auto-x wheels after I get my new set soon.

Hmm. Well, i have a 92' coupe, and they clear just fine. I thought they were way to close but i was looking at a Buick Rendevous in the parking lot tuesday night, and saw the clearance was about the same. I'm getting new rims anyway, but that's not really because of the brakes (sort-of)
