I’m about to purchase my first 300zx never owned one but I plan on starting it as a project car. He’s trading me the two for my 03’ malibu. Is it worth it? (I need something to drive me daily 10 miles the faster the better)

First, you've posted in the wrong forum group. Z32 starts at 1990, and you have a Z31.

I hope you have a daily driver now because it's going to take awhile and a lot of money to sort this out.

Most importantly, you must secure a title for the most complete car. Maybe it's stolen, maybe not. You'll save money and headaches restoring the most complete car, but you're going to have to tag it to drive it.

If you don't have a dedicated DD this is a really bad idea. The Z31 is a fairly dependable car when sorted but driving any project car daily will make you want to set it on fire.
