ok im getting a 7k loan for a car since apparently, insurance isnt in my favor with getting something newer and ive wanted a 240 forever...but anyways ill have 5k maybe a little more after i buy the car to buy the sr motor and then mod it.....the install will be done by myself so skip the cost of install, what mods should i do and is it possible to spend that much and have a streetable 300hp+ 240sx? any answers, advice is appreciated.....my Aol name is nobrains8503 usually always on....thanks guys

No it's not possible. 5K after buying a $2000 shell. $2500 for a decent motorset, leaves $2500. You would be cutting a hell of alot of corners.

Bigger intercooler, bigger turbo, upgraded fuel system, upgraded engine management, and a better clutch.

There are also a TON of other mods that arnt nessecary, but are valuable precautions if you are concerned with the running life of your motor.

where would be the best/most cost effective place for turbo....best results ive seen are from t3/t4.....and engine management, what about dyno tuning? would that work?

youll need a bigger loan. it'll end up being more than you expect. at least now you'll have some extra money for other stuff.

yea to get 300whp takes some money. remember you need some gauges, fuel pump, clutch, flywheel, etc etc etc

i'd say you need a good 10k for everything out the door, if not a little more.

Flywheel? You don't need that. For 7k you better be able to put together a t28 equipped sr 240. My project is about to top out at 5k including the car w/ a ca18det. What gets expensive is stuff like a FMIC kit, getting a lightweight flywheel, and some other unnecessary things. If you don't think you can do it, buy one of the many sr 240's for sale that already have the mods you would need.
