I got some glass h4 housings and got a cheap hid kit from ebay. When I turn them on the initial flicker you can tell both are definitely pink but the passenger side eventually warms up from a very light almost white pink to pink and the driver side stays a lot lighter. It's not brighter or dimmer it just doesn't warm up and turn "pink pink". Now I realize this kit being a cheapie could be the source of this which I'm content with but I'm wondering if there's anything I can do. Oh and as a side note when I unplug the passenger pink side the driver side immediately gets pinker. Sooo is this an electrical issue car wise or just one ballast pulls more than the other? heres some pictures.

Could wire them to relay and that might solve your flicker, and heat problems. When you say retrofit, what did you do for the housings? What kind of housings are they?

The pink is going to draw a lot of attention. I would of just went 4300 and had a nice setup.

Yep.

If you have to ask "why is one pinker than the other", throw them away and put real bulbs in.

I'm not asking for useless opinions based on your hatred on what's "ricey". Just a little wiring advice. rc1honda i think the brand is autopal(H4 type) its like a hella knock off I guess. Glass lenses and pretty decent construction for generics. Like I said I realized I bought them off ebay but I'm curious if I can do something about it. If not idfc because I only have $80 in the hids and housings. They are 3 times brighter than my silver stars. Sebring I believe there is even a 36000k which is green I think. BTW what brand of bulbs would you recommend? I've never dealt with lighting much never really cared for it.

It was a joke, dude. Get your panties out of a bunch.
Maybe you should re-read this and absorb what they were saying before you do something dumb and call them out...

Sorry I have glass in my poon and my pad is sopping.....Razi obviously uses ricey in his post and I recall a fecal comment as well. Back to subject I'm going to do an independent relay using direct battery source tomorrow to see if it makes a difference.

Could be two problems. A, your ballasts suck, or B, your bulbs suck.

The problem with buying HID bulbs that aren't OEM, is that they suck. HID bulbs use some kind of combination of salts, and the right combination will give you an efficient light that runs pretty cool. When an OEM manufacturer finds their ideal mixture, you better bet they lock it up and put it in a safe, no sharing recipes here. Obviously some cheap ebay company isn't going to spend much on R&D, so you're going to get crappy bulbs. The salts are expensive as well, so if you buy a cheap HID bulb, you better bet that the company that produced it cheaped out on the salts.

swap the bulbs from side to side, see if the problem follows it. If it doesn't, swap the ballasts as well. This should tell you what the problem is. Obviously if the same side is still pink after swapping all the components, then you know you have a wiring problem.

...and they're NOT brighter than Silverstars. At that color temp, it's not possible.

They may annoy your eyes more than the others, but that doesn't mean they're "brighter" (more light output).

I bought all my stuff from HIDextra.com. They are or were a NICO sponsor. I don't have any complaints...

Thank you all :) that's the kind of respond I was seeking. Razi those are sweet but at that price I mind as well get these http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5RaigKzlgIE. They have then on and off on ebay for about 350-400. Krash what are some reputable hid brands? I bought cheap in the 1st place for that reason. Everytime I googled in search of recommended hid brands it turned into ebay junk reviews anyway. If I can get them to work properly great. If not oh well, not a big deal. I'm off to try this relay setup out.

yeah I would go woth HIDextra or the other one mentioned that I cant find right now.

Buying stuff from ebay saves money but you always have problems or have to do it twice. You dont have to spend $400 either. I know a guy around here that sells good legit kits for $100. You just have to find the right place.

That's why I am avoiding spending more because I don't know enough about hids yet lol. I could have easily spent 2-3 times more and had the same results.

so wasting money on something you don't understand and being upset with the crappy end results was the only option? whatever happened to research and informed decisions?
twofortyridaxiii wrote:I could have easily spent 2-3 times more and had the same results.
no. you could have easily done some homework, waited a couple more weeks, spent 2-3 times more, and gotten your desired results. but instead, you were impatient and dead set on giving your car pink eye (do you get the fecal matter joke now?) and blew money on some crap ebay kit which is creating more work to possibly fix the output. way to fail.

and if those glass shards reappear in your vagina after this post, you may as well quit now.

^^^^Lol I'm far from upset. I'm happy with my moneys worth just wanted to see if there was something I could do to make them a little better. Relay didn't work and switching bulbs didn't work. So other than switching ballasts to opposing sides there's nothing left to be done. I have $80 dollars in something that took 15 minutes to install and an 1hr attempting to improve. I've wasted nothing as far as I'm concerned. Whenever I feel the need to spend a paycheck on headlights I'd much rather get the gladman kit anyway.

I recently got into this retrofitting thing because I'm trying to throw some projectors in my vert, everything I know is from here: http://www.theretrofitsource.com/

For bulbs, you want to stick with the big wigs. Sylvania, Phillips, etc.

I don't think having exposed projectors is a good idea.

^^^ It's got a 2yr warranty. After a little more searching lol I kept seeing Phillips and MCcullough pop up. Yeah if I am going to spend a few hundred I'd rather have projectors anyway. After searching those for past few months its going to cost about the same as that kit minus all the headache. But yeah thanks again krash. I'll check it out.

Projectors are the ish! Its such a big difference especially with HIDs. I wish I saved my old ones from by broken headlights, then I could sell'em

I bought those "hid" premade "projector" things like 5 years ago and they were awful. Trashed them like 2 days later. Wish I had kept them for something like this.
