Hi,

i'm new in this forum. This is for a 300 ZX Z31 1984 2+2 T-Top non turbo.

When cold engine, the oil temperature gauge works normally. But soon, after 5 minutes working, it climbs to 150 ºC level (302 F) and then even goes up to upper part when the engine is still cold. Oil pressure is normal.

I think that oil temperature sensor is not working , so my idea is to replace it for a new one.

But, i found 2 problems:
- 1.- Searching at the service manuals, parts diagrams, etc. (this forum, Xenonzcar web, Nissanpartsdeal.com , etc), i didn't find where the oil temperature sensor is located at the engine.
- 2.- I didn't find this spare part (oil temperature sensor) to buy it at the Internet. I've in mind to contact Steve (Nissan Parts), but still i didn't do that.

Please, any hint ?

Thanks and Greetings

Hi Rogue One !

thanks a lot for your quick reply !

Now , thanks to your answer, i realized the reason what i didn't find an engine oil temperature sensor. It doesn't exist at all ! . Really the oil temperature gauge displays oil gearbox temperature ! .

I think this gauge was very useful for Paul Newman when racing the Z on circuits...hahaha

Regards
