I am going to take the Motor out of my 1984 300zx 2+2 non turbo and replace it with a 350 small block and transmission has anyone seen this before or heard of it? I need some info on the matter. Thanks

moved to the classic setion where z31 topic's beling, yes you can put a sbc in a z31, it's been done, not my cup of tea but if it spins your crank go for it, not much too it, fab mounts, have driveshaft made, wiring the gauges would be the most difficult part and you could just swap in aftermarkets if you felt so motivated

By the time you're done making an SBC fit and work, you could have spent that money and time on the original VG motor and make more power and get better mileage.

I don't think it will be as bad as every body thinks. Motor +transmission $1000, Drive shaft and motor mounts $250 gauges $100, exhaust $250 I don't think it will be that bad and plus I'm tired of messing with that Japenese **** I can't work on.

the japanese stuff really isn't much different, the only REAL difference is theres just no pushrods.

you'll end up with a worse handling car with a bit more power and worse gas mileage. but whatever... its been done before, even talked to a guy the other day with a 454 in one... he said its the worst handling car he's ever driven after he put that huge motor in it.

If you think that's all it will cost, you're in for a rude awakening.

lol, I like knowing that all nuts and bolts on the car are metric, domestic's havn't been all "merkin" for years, I've done "radical" swaps and in gereral you can get as much result from the stock drivetrain for less money, granted if you are all about the sbc, know them and have them littering your lawn have at, but a turbo swap has amazing potential, if you know what you are doing, me I'd rather have fuel injected turbo than n/a carbs, more dependable and I understand injection
