Well the term 'shell' can mean a few different things when a cars concerned. You could be getting a rolling chassie, which would mean it would be missing everything but a motor, wiring, and a transmission.

Or it could mean that you would be getting something with not only those parts missing, but a slew of other parts that the person before you has stripped off the car to sell. IE, 5 lug conversions, brakes, and the steering rack just to name a few.

You need to ask specific questions to the guy your buying it from to determine if the car is worth your time.

If the car is just missing an engine and transmission, then its a good buy. However, if its missing alot more stuff, you might want to skip it unless you have another complete 240 lying around to get the parts off of.

Well, gettting a "Shell" or "rolling chassis" is always "fishY"

You do not know what is missing. I mean, the smallest little component that is missing can be forever difficult to find. And If the Owner had taken a small braket out that you don't know, or didn't detect, you're out~

So, I suggest finding a car with a Blown headgasket, or something of that nature. People will also sell these for cheap. I'd pay $500, for a blown motor car than a $300 "mystery shell" (unless you know for a fact that only the engine/ transmission was removed"

Pay a little more and save yourself a lot of trouble Salvaging parts ~~~~!!
