Filled it up last night, took 9.9 gallons. Had 303 miles on it so I got 30.6 mpg. That was combined highway/city but 2/3 of it being city so not bad.

When I do the first oil change here soon, I'll put in Mobil 1.

Car's running great. Just fun to drive, too. Waiting for MacNeil/Weathertech to release floor mats for the Versa. I really like their thick rubber mats they offer.

It sounds like we need a 30+ mpg club. Eventually, most of us will be there.

My V started there on day 1, and dropped to 27 at about 7000 miles.

I'm getting 24 in the Legacy, which given it is supposed to be at 19-26 is really good.

My "worst" tank was 28.35mpg and best was 34.19 mpg. Over a period of 5 months and a little over 4K miles, my overall average is 30.83mpg.

I'm not complainin' at all ! Don't get me wrong.... I loved my Titan, but with an average of about 14-15mpg with short trips around town (which is most of my driving), the gas was killing me.

Well, I called Weathertech and they don't know when they'll have Versa mats. Their rep said probably when they become more popular and they've been around a few years.

Went down and got the accessory mats from Nissan. Pretty nice.

Well I'm jealous-- I would love to be getting 30 mpg

I drive in the city only and the best I have managed to get 23.94 mpg with the CVT transmission. I have tried driving more conservatively etc and with little success.

I'm beginning to think this car isn't for me.

yeah I'm pretty much in the same boat. However the last tank I got 27. Did a minor amount of hwy driving on that tank. I'm hoping that the engine is nearing the broken in point tho and that it is a sign of things to come. Maybe I'll be in the 30+ club soon. Then the mile high club next.

How much of that driving is sitting in bumper to bumper traffic ?

My Mom is getting pretty close to the same as my mpgs in her SL CVT. This last tank of her's though will probably be pretty bad. She got caught in back-up from a wreck on the interstate and it took her nearly 45 minutes to go less than 2 miles. That'll KILL mpgs !

Probably 20 percent is bumper to bumper and the rest is normal city stop and go stuff. This tank I'm on now tho is going to be bad. With the snow and the ice Ive been doing a lot of sitting and going nowhere the last couple of days. My usual 25 min commute took over 2 1/2 hrs Wednesday.

Well, my last car was 18mpg on premium so im definatly not complaining, but today I filled up for the first time. 310 miles, on 9.8 gallon. Bought the car on tuesday, so ive had it 4 days. And trust me, going from $40 a tank, to $21 a tank, and made it more miles on the 20$ tank kicks ***. I love this little car.

At 13,000 miles on my SL/CVT, it's pretty consistently around 32mpg in warm weather and 30mpg in cold, with mostly highway driving. Paid $1.83/gallon yesterday, but still would like higher mileage.

I just noticed this morning at the Nissan dealer that the new CVT Sentras are rated the same highway mpg as the Versa. Wonder how they'll compare...

1.83 a gallon! How how come I am paying 2.47-2.59 a gallon here in the San Diego area! Filled the tank last night from just under 1/4 to full and cost $26.50. I never fill the Titan anymore $40 only gets me half a tank.

Currently about 2.09-2.11 here in St Louis. San Diego sucks for gas prices, I used to live there for 4 years.

The thing I don't understand is that it's always lower in Spartanburg, SC (where I buy my gas) than in Tulsa OK! I have no idea why, as there isn't an oil field or refinery for hundreds of miles, but I'm not about to complain!

Everyone should hang in there on MPG results. My two prior cars were Honda Accords; neither one seemed to be broken in during the first 10K miles. The '92 at 280K miles is still getting 26 - 30 MPG in the Dallas metroplex, depending on traffic and roads while the '01 produces 27 - 30 in the same conditions. Open road trips on both cars consistantly return mid-30s MPG.

Just a note for consideration: our doctored gas in the metroplex absolutely kills MPG during the mandated additive use time period from April through October? I keep detailed records on gas use and maintenance and can see the MPG change when the additive increases. I even track the store selling the gas for comparison between brands. As I understand the rules gasoline volitility is lowered to help reduce smog. The Dallas area probably has the worst smog in the nation now.

Trips through eastern Oklahoma give great MPG when I can buy out in the boonies. The fuel smells different too. Usual increase with rural gas (outside a federal control area) is 10 -15 per cent. I make this trip 2 -4 times per year and the results are always the same.

The Versa (ie - Lucky) is currently averaging 30.4 MPG with the trend nearing 31.

Sorry for the rambling, but auto gas mileage just isn't straight forward anymore. You must look at longer trends to see how your V is performing.Look at it this way, my 50s, 60s, 70s and 80s cars couldn't come close to what is achieveable today.

We are only paying 2.06 down here. Once you're out of the city, the price drops to $1.89 - 1.99. I'm averaging 31.3 in the city. For the highway I'm getting 33.7.

I'm getting right around 700km on a tank of gas in mine with mostly highway driving, but some city.

Gas here is $2.03-$2.06. Probably 95% of my gas has come from the Pilot station about a mile from my house, so my brand is very consistent, and I ALWAYS use the auto cut-off on the nozzel. Took me some time to convince Mom that her mpg calcs would be more consistent if she'd do the same.

Don't remember what the per gallon price was the last time I filled up my Titan (that's been goin' on 6 months ago), but I DO remember that it was costing me $60 - $70 to fill it up. That 28 gallon tank was a killer. I'd really try not to let it get below 1/2. The V is great !!! Less than 1/2 the fuel capacity, and more miles per tank !

Hello: I bought a very nice pair of custom thick rubber mats off of e-bay. They are great and have cups that catch any spills. They are custom cut to fit the Versa and even have the little hole that holds the driver mat in place. They have black, clear and I think grey. I highly recommend them to anyone who wants a nice set of winter mats to protect the carpet.

Weather map thing for gas prices:

http://www.gasbuddy.com/gb_gastemperaturemap.aspx

I have consistantly been getting over 30 mpg. My lowest was 33.4 mpg driving 10-15 mph in the blizzard. My highest was 41.0mpg with "real" gas. Average is around 36.5 mpg after 7700+ miles.

The real gas was purchased in the mountains were they don't add 10% ethonal.

After 5 fillups, my average is 30.05mpg. Could be better but if I can maintain an average of 30-31 I won't be too disappointed. Plus, it's gotten better with almost every tank. The 1st one was 27.83, the last one was 32.86. That was with mostly highway driving, though.

Sorry to sound ignorant, but what is "doctored gas" and "mandated additive"?

thanks a lot for the link, i did not know that there are such high regional differences in gas prices in the states...

here in mexico, cuz of the staten dominated pemex the differences are less in all the country

but 6.71 pesos a liter regular 87 octane is 2,33 US-$ a gallon!

8.31 pesos a liter premium 91 octane is 2,89 US-$ a gallon

who said mexico is cheap??

best wishes

The alcohol to gas formulation changes during the warmer months (April through October?) so the gas evaporation temperture increases. Refiners add more alcohol making the gas less volitile and harder to ignite. Alcohol up to 10% can be added in Texas. I have been in some states that allow up to 15% (Illinois is one, I think). This supposedly decreases smog/pollution, which is a major, major problem in the Dallas area. The result is a significant, measurable drop in MPG. The problem with alcohol use in gasoline is decreased MPG, and an actual, real increase in total gas consuption.

Doctored gasoline is any "real" gas with alcohol added for any reason.

326.5 miles, 10.4 gallons.

I've been getting 25 mpg in a 6-sp MT. I drive about 80% on the highway.Anyone have any tips other than accelerating slowly that would help me increase my mpg?

I've driven MT for about 7 years, but I think someone taught me bad habbits cuz I'm just getting really bad mileage.

Thanks.

I use cruise control alot. I average between 32 -34mpg.Keep your tires at the recommenced pressure as well. I hope that helps.
