My G just turned 30,000 miles so I took it to the dealership for service.

I let them do a differential fluid change for $69 and a Mobil 1 oil change total bill came to $200. Not bad at all.

I have the transmission serviced every 20k miles.

I declined, fuel injector flush, coolant flush, drive belt change, cabin air filter change and air filter change (fujita).

I'll do the cabin air filter and drive belt myself. Probably flush the coolant at 40k miles.

Everything would have been $750 if I had agreed to it.

I'm dreading the 60k deal. I just turned 43k today, and am hoping for catastrophic engine failure within the next year and nine months/27k miles. New free engine, but I doubt I'm that lucky.

new diff fluid is part of the 30k service. It was the only part I thought a 1 year old should need even with 30 k miles on it.

I have the dealership change the transmission fluid every 20k miles. Change your transmission fluid frequently or not at all. I'm hard on the car so I change it early

The cabin air filter is $100 alone! I'll let them do a coolant flush on mine when I hit 30k. You're right about the belts, super easy to do and not worth the cash to have the dealer do it.

I just changed mine this past weekend. It's been a year & they do get dirty and should be changed yearly. Very easy to do, took about 15 minutes

I think the coolant flush might have been a good deal, especially considering where you live.

Are the drive belts only good for 30k in a G? Darn, I think they are 60k in the Mustang.

They charge $130 for a Mobil 1 oil change? WTF?

5qts of Mobil 1 costs $25 at Walmart. A Mobil 1 oil filter cost around $12.

So far we're at $37. The tech gets paid .5 hours for the job. Even at $100/hr, that's $50. Let's add in their stupid additive. $7

So we're at $94. $94+$69+7= $160+tax which is $180.

Was there more?

30k in a year? That is impressive. Even when I was a road warrior the most I got in a year was 25k. Must be all those quarter mile passes

Sentientbydesign,

I'm with you on the cost and ease of doing the oil change myself. I bought the car used with 16,411 miles on it July 26th 2007. I did the first 2 oil changes myself with Mobil 1. Within 3000 miles the car had used a little over a half quart of oil. Thinking I may have an oil consumption issue I started letting the dealership service the car so if I had a claim I would have them on my side. Funny thing the car stopped using oil? I don't know if the dealership is running a heavier oil or if its the additive but its worth it too me to let them do the oil changes even at $124 a time.

They want $170 for the coolant flush and fill I'll probably let them do it closer to 40k miles. I know I could do it myself for $50

which is why I refused most of the 30k maintance.

There is no way my coolant has started to break down in just a year, I could probably replace it after 3 years or so. The diff fluid and transmission fluid gets changed every 30k and every 20k regardless of time.

Interesting side note the G feels faster with the new diff fluid? I don't think my butt dyno could detect the 5 hp that the dirty fluid could have been stealing from friction? or could it?

I put 124 very satisfying miles on the G today. Put 117 miles on it yesterday. The miles add up quick.

Standing outside a biz early this morning and I hear tires squeal, motor racing through first gear, tires chirp second gear... I am straining my neck to see what is moving so fast in a 35 mph zone... white 08 G35 sedan with temp tags

I respect you getting the oil changed at the dealer, I just can't for the life of me understand how they're charging you so much. I change my oil every 2-3 months due to the number of miles I drive. I can't afford $40-$60/month in oil plus the $200+ in gas.

Glad your oil consumption issue went away.

Well I do get a "free" 2007 G35 loaner car with free gas to drive while they work on my car. And my car is always DETAILED inside and out when I pick it up including leather treated. So that is worth something too me. Additionally the Infiniti people are so accomodating. My last oil change back in January I had my wife and son with me. After we had dropped off the car we went shopping. Then we wanted to go out to eat. My wife is a veggie and she couldn't remember the name or location of the resturant she wanted to eat at. We stopped back into IOS and had 3 people helping us find the resturant and giving us directions. IOS always gives me a cold bottle of water and sorbe when I stop in. I have never been so happy to hand someone my money.

The service is always CHEAPER then quoted. My last service was $200, they quoted $227.
