hey guys,

i'm new to this forum... I have a 2006 G35 with 30,000 miles. automatic.

i'm getting conflicting pricing for the maintance. at the glendale infiniti they said the 30,000 miles check up is 250 - 400 dollars. it's oilchange and they check everything. one service guy told me 400 and when i got there another one said it was 250 without parts. whatever that means. it seem really shady so i opted out of the check up. at metro infiniti in monrovia the price is 600 dollars and the difference is transmission fluid change. has anyone have any experience with these dealerships? or is there a better deal? i'm just looking to do my 30,000 at a fair price and they do what's needed.

thanks guys.

Welcome to NICO

If you do a search on this site there are many posts on doing the simple vehicle maintenance yourself and save the $100 plus an hour labor charge at the dealer. There are also video's

You can change the oil & oil filter, replace the air & cabin filter, rotate the tires, check your brakes at the same time the wheels are off, and check all the other fluids. I can't help you with the transmission fluid. When I did have an automatic back in the 1970's I never changed it. Never had a problem in seventeen years. I believe you have to be careful that the correct type of automatic transmission fluid is used in the Infiniti but it is probabily cheaper at a reputible transmission shop? You could always ask the dealer how much is just the automatic transmission fluid change?

Here are a few photo's

Changing my oil

My dirty air filter

My Dirty Cabin Filter

I change my own oil every 3k miles, cabin filter once a year, air filter every 10k -15k miles, rotate tires every 7500 miles.

If you need more info on what tools and equiptment you need let me know

I think you misread. $100 PER HOUR

The air filter takes about 2-5 mins to do. 10 if you include standing in line at autozone.

The oil takes about 45 mins the first time and probably around 20 mins thereafter (once you're familiar with everything.

If you've bought your tires from a tire shop, most of them include free rotations every 5k miles. They can also give your brakes a quick look over for free.

The in-cabin filter sounds like a pain to do. It's not hard, just annoying to get to. It'll probably cost you around $50 for the part, but somebody will have to chime in for exact figures.

I'd say you can do everything but the transmission fluid exchange for under $100 and probably only take about 2 hours to do it yourself (not including the trip to the tire shop for a rotation and brake inspection).

So now you're saving a minimum of $70 (assuming you get your transmission service done somewhere at $80s).
