I have an xbox 360 and now when I turn it on, no video comes up and 3 rings started to flash. I looked it up online and did everything a couple sites told me to do to try to fix the problem but none of them work. Anyone else run into this?

You mean like this?

If so, it's covered under a 3 year extended warranty. Send it off to MS and they take care of it. I've not dealt with the problem but other NICO members have so they might be able to help you out.I believe that you contact MS and have them send you a warranty shipping package (box, label, etc.) to send off your Xbox (minus HDD) in that. I could be wrong, though.

Yeah, just call 1-800-4MY-XBOX. Talk to the CS rep, tell him what's going on. Make sure you have your XBOX next to you because he will want your serial number. They will mail you a box with instructions of what you have to do. Make sure you take the HDD off the system. You should probably do that now so you dont forget. Then you seal the box with the tape they send you, stick on the shipping label they already paid for, and drop it off at a UPS store or something like that. Total cost to you, nothing. You just have to wait. It's usually about a month. If you have Xbox Live they throw in a 1 month card to offset your downtime. I've still got mine somewhere around my room, I need to find it.

Nope, the graphics potential is basically identical. The PS3's Bluray can hold more data, but that's pretty much the only thing its got over the Xbox. PS3 has had massive framerate issues with a lot of games too. Most games that launch cross platform show all of their demos on the 360 because it usually plays smoother with less framerate hiccups.

Ahhhhh...I do love the bluray though. But a simple bluray dvd player will fix that And what are framerate hiccups?

Well, next gen systems play games at 60 frames per second. Sometimes, in games that have a lot of action and effects, when the action gets heavy the framerate drops and returns to normal quickly. This is what I call a hiccup. They suck *** because it only happens when a lot of **** is going down, which is when you need a smooth framerate the most. It makes aiming an absolute *****. You go to aim normally, then it slows down so you stop, then it returns to normal again and you've either moved your aim way too far over or not far enough.

you probably already saw it coming, but I disagree. graphics potential is not identical. you said it yourself, bluray can hold more data, therefore = more potential. most games that launch cross platform are shown on 360 because they were MADE for the 360, and simply ported over to PS3. and that is your answer to the "framerate issues" as well.

it's a new year and production studios are finally starting to take time to produce games for the PS3 from scratch, and the results are amazing. ie: burnout paradise, devil may cry 4. if you look at the list of games with "framerate issues" you'll notice that EVERY single title was a port over from 360. it has nothing to do with the PS3's graphical potential (because we've all seen examples of games done CORRECTLY), it's simply just the fact that production studios were lazy and ported the games over from their 360 version.

and to the op:yeah, it's 1-800-4MY-XBOX. I have the number memorized from having to tell it to many many customers that have to trade their 360 in but seriously, good luck with that, hopefully the wait isn't too long.

Nope, Assassin's Creed was developed on both systems, not ported. The PS3 had lots of framerate issues, and most people who bought the game on that system hated it because of it. I know this because I watched the game like a hawk before it came out and I was a member on the official AC forums. I don't know about the others because I don't watch many games before launch like I did with AC.

I dont know where you got the idea that more disk space = better graphics, but forget about that immediately because its completely wrong. I have no idea where you got that from. The processor, ram, and GPU determine how efficiently a system runs any given game. If you up the graphics without upgrading the CPU, GPU, or RAM, it will run worse. All the bigger disk means is that it can hold more data. This means bigger worlds, more audio, whatever the hell you want to fill it with. It has nothing to do with graphics.

On that same token, I dont know if you play games on the computer too, but have you ever installed one that was over 10GB? I doubt you will ever get a PS3 game that uses anywhere near the 50GB limit on a dual layer BluRay.

This is not the thread for a PS3/XBOX debate, the OP asked a question and I helped. You will not change my mind or his. Find something else to do.

That's not correct.

STORAGE MEDIA has no correlation with the machine's power. You can store all the fancy graphics you want on a 231st century shigawire spool, but that doesn't mean the PS3 can put them to use. And even if it COULD, it wouldn't have much of an impact. Cartridge-media consoles are a great example. The N64 used cartridges with a 512Mb (64MB) capacity. Yes, it's true that that often limited texture resolutions, but really the main limiting factor was MEMORY on the console's part. That's why Nintendo released the Expansion Pak the N64. It was basically a RAM upgrade.

The PS3 still has to have the hardware resources to USE whatever you put on the BluRay disc. BluRay's higher storage capacity alone is irrelevant.
