3 Quick 2JZ/S13 questions

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

Planning on doing a 2JZ swapped S13 coupe in the coming months. i have just about everything planned out pretty well just 2 questions are still floating in my head.

I plan on getting the Tech2 Motorsport 2JZ Swap kit. (Don't really feel like trying to find Aristo Mounts and cut up the stock crossmember myself. So why not go with the kit.

Well here is my Question. The Tech2 kit comes with a Driveshaft for the 5spd transmission, but i plan on running the Stock 2J Auto for a year or 2 then going TH400. So am i going to need a differant driveshaft or is the 5spd and Auto DS the same size? either way it's not a huge deal there is a DS shop about 5 min from my house.

Question 2. They say with those swap kits the 2J Shifter is about 2" forward of the stock Shift hole. well how will that work for an automatic?

Question 3. What do you guys use for Radiators/fans on your 2J 240 to keep it cool. I was planning on a S13 KOYO radiator and a set o FAL Fans? But what coolant pipes do i use? or do i need to make them myself?

Thanks Nico.

For the driveshaft, Tech2 can have the one for the auto made so everything is bolt up, then when you change over to th400 either they or your driveshaft shop can do it.

With the adapter the shiffter sits where it need to sit, so it looks completely stock. on the auto now thats diff, might wnat to call just to varify with them.

Im using Koyo radiator for S13 KA and the piping is from Tech2. Just get the the rad they sell and the piping, cause the Ra they sell is already modded to work with our swaps.

Hope that helps man, keep us updated.....I pick my car up on the 20th to bring it to colorado, gonna be fun.

don't know how much this will help, but if you want... get on houston-imports.com and find sc300 (duy). he's running a 2speed powerglide transmission on his swap. of course he's running low 8s now too though.

You could probably save $1200

Sorry, that was my wallet typeing...Also Rucus Racing makes a good and much cheaper alternative...

I am a member of Tech2's swap forums (www.2jzswap.com) and I have read first hand people's requests for auto swap kits. Tech2 always responded: "Yes, we also make Auto kits."They use a different drive shaft, wiring, and transmission crossmember.IDK about the shifter location though

If you use an unaltered S13 radiator then the upper inlet will have clearance issues with the FMIC piping and throttle body(or thats what they say)If you can pull off the "clearance issue" then you can use what ever combination of radiator piping. I would suggest buying the longest set of piping you can find at your local parts store. Also a set that looks similar to what you need. This way you can butcher it and cut it up to make it work

Check out the ruckus racing mounting kit. I bought it for $365.00 transmission and engine brackets. Uses 240sx mounts for motor and stock R154 transmission mount. Im sure you can modify it for a auto transmission.

do you know the # for ruckus? i have been tring to get ahold of him on zilvia bt no luck yet.

also i am going to do the same swap in my s14 and tech 2 told me that there kit was pretty much useless for and auto swap. you will only be able to use the motor mounts and that was it. he never told me about an auto kit just that his could be modified to fit an auto (**** spending that kinda money and having to modify). i am going to try and use the stock shifter and just modify the linkage or swap in a toyota shifter if it doesnt work.

good luck on your swap.
