Q45tech mentioned in previous thread that the low oil pressure warning switch is set to trigger at just 3 PSI. But the absolute minimum safe level at idle is 14 PSI.

Since I don't want to add an extra gauge and distract the interior; where can I get a oil pressure switch calibrated to 15 PSI?

My Dodge Caravan had a 20 PSI switch (mitsubishi engine) but it's long gone.

14psi is not the minimum safe pressure as far as I know. The manual states that, when heated to normal operating temps, oil pressure should be *about* 14psi, and I haven't seen any tolerance listed for that value. The one Q I measured was down around 12-13 psi when warm, and I don't think there was anything wrong with that. Wear measurements on cam bearings were well within spec, much closer to min clearance than max clearance (at 122k), which would suggest a good maintenance history. I was running Mobil1 10W30 at the time. I'm not saying it's a bad idea, just that 15 psi might be too high. Maybe 10psi? Don't know where you'd get a sender for that purpose. Try J.C. Whitney.

Summit racing has something that wil shut down the engine at a predetermined PSI.
