I eventually do plan on going turbo, slowly but surely I will get there. That is why I got a 3" exhaust. The packing in my muffler blew out and is loud as f***. As i look for a new one i usually buy new stuff from people on craigslist (WAY CHEAPER), and as I search the ones I find are always 2.5" inlet.

So question is: Would a 2.5" inlet muffler restrict my flow so much that it is a stupid idea?

P.S. I am looking at N1 style mufflers.

An exhaust is only as efficient as its most restrictive part.

2.5" is already larger than stock so you'll still have a gain over stock. I think a 2.5" will be okay for you, you can always cut it off and sell it if you feel you have a tremendous loss over what you have now (especially if you buy one used off craigslist you can probably re-sell it for the same amount you paid)
