let me just talk about the end of this I have owned and have only driven manual cars before i got my CVT and it's very easy to sum this up, the CVT is a better transmission PERIOD it's a quicker car, shifts better, does not allow for as much ragging out (due to bad driving), it actually is FUN and best of all it's available NOW can't beat that now can you and and BTW many stick drivers got the CVT because well they wanted their car nowfastball wrote:Well, I spent the last week going to different dealers in my area, and they all have the same story which leads me to believe it's the truth (go figure, a salesman telling the truth)....
To get my Altima coupe the way I want it will be a 2-3 month order. What I would like is a silver/black interior 3.5 SE 6 speed manual with premium package and VDC.
Anyone else here order a 6 speed 3.5 and have a similar waiting period?
This is such a great car, and should be perfect with a manual transmission. I wonder why Nissan isn't building more of them that way so there is a couple to choose from on dealer lots.
Don't get me wrong, the CVT is nice for people who don't want to learn how to drive stick. But this car just begs for a manual transmission....
And for those of you who never learned how to drive stick, you really should. I've never owned an automatic, and when I do drive them, they are sooooo boring. You'd enjoy driving that much more if you drove stick.
Nissan is pushing the CVT like crazy. I don't remember the exact number, but I think only 10% of the coupes will be manual... unless you special order one...maybe, idk. But I do know that the new Maxima's are only CVT.fastball wrote:This is such a great car, and should be perfect with a manual transmission. Where do you live that you have such open roads ???? and you do understand you shift the gears yourself with a CVT just like a stick except no clutch and no shift shock???? Also How much % are you getting on your CD's?fastball wrote:Well, at least I'm not the only one
I have always driven stick. Right now I own a 2000 Honda Prelude I bought new in Dec. of 1999. I could never go back to an automatic. As much as it can be a distraction in traffic, I'll take that small drawback as the penalty for the feeling of rowing my own gears on the open road and that sound of the engine shifting gears that you DON'T get with the CVT.
Guess I'll wait. My CD's come due in about a week - maybe I'll roll them over to a 3 month short term and get an extra few bucks in the process.
Perhaps a cold air intake?
Man it seems like you really need to justify your CVT purchase lol. Are you sure you're not getting a little jealous now?Kasper08 wrote:

anyways, I ordered May 18th for a 3.5SE 6speed manual with premo and tech package with blond leather and blue outside color and I'm still waiting for it They said we should get it in the 3rd week of september. Man The combo I chose was never ordered and wasn't even on their to-do list so I'm getting the maximum 5 month wait time, and I ordered early...imagine if i only ordered now...hello chrismas 2008 lol.
