There is a group deal for the Cattman 3" Exhaust system. If you had a chance for the upgrade would you take it?

not enough gain for an NA 4th gen for the cattman price. a local muffler shop can do it much cheaper - not stainless but nw cars don't rust like the left coast.

Interesting...The gain difference might be in the engine 3L to 3.5L. It seems the 3" has substantial gains on an NA 5.5 gen than what you get from the 2.5" I wonder if anyone here can confirm the difference from dyno's they've seen or experienced themselves.

I'm originally a west coaster, and can't wait to get back. But, either coast your on, stainless steel is just the stronger, more reliable piece, is my understaning. A couple other points to note is that quality that you get. what I mean by that is the Cattman piece maintains the OEM assembly method, three pieces connected by flanges. This should ease the install and IF any piece should become damaged it would be easier to replace. Also if you want to go back to stock you have an easier transition. You will also get Mandrel bent pieces for smoother flow (all of which is stuff you know).

With MOST exhaust shops and some performance shops you get crush bends and a welded one piece system. so going back to stock is going to be a LOT more work. So the extra cost, can be justified. Based on what your time is worth and the kind of quality you want in your vehicle.

This is all stuff I've learned recently in doing research on different systems and asking questions of local performance shops. If anyone has any input please let me know. I appreciate the learning.

BTW - I'd be willing to bet if Brian could get someone near LA, CA to volunteer their car for a couple dyno runs he'd find a way to make it worth your time. I'd take it if I were home.

they already did dyno runs on a 3.5 and there is gains from a 3" exhaust. the 3.0 benefits more from a y-pipe and a 2.5" catback.

i think the dyno sheets are on the .org for the 3" exhaust - hit up the wizard who started the whole thing and he can gve you more info.

one more thing - a 10ft section of standard exhaust piping (2.5") costs under $20 - paying extra for quality doesn't equal paying for the brand name sticker...it's like throwing away $300 on an injen cai which does nothing for the 4th gen motor most muffler shops have the equipment to bend pipes without creasing and do it fairly cheap. i can understand $400 for a full cat back but $650 being the bottom price? that's a little exagerated imho...it's just some bent metal pipe.
