Before you guys start saying I should have spent my money the right way from the beginning, I wasn't planning on turbo-ing my car at all until recently, and well, plans change w/ me, I'll deal with it .

Ok, so here it goes, I have an up-pipe that I believe is 2.5" and planning on fabbing that so it fits an sr20 downpipe (which seem to only come in either 2.5" in - 3 out, 2.75" in - 3" out, or 3" all the way).

I am wondering if performance, safety (longetivity of parts and gaskets, etc), will be compromised from having a 2.5" catback back and 2.5" hi-flow cat.

Will it bolt up w/o leaking?

If it is not worth it, then I'll find me a 2.5" sr20 d/p, I was just leaving my options open for the "distant" future.

Thanks!

3 inch down pipe to a 2.5 exhaust means your not going to have a scvanging effect, and your going to have ample back pressure. In other words, way less flow than 2.5 to a 3 inch exhaust.

I have an HKS 3" DP to a 3" test pipe to HKS 2.5" Hiper exhaust on my sr. It does take away some power but with the added backpressure comes added torque which is nice. That and the 2.5" exhaust is nice and quiet. I questioned this setup also when I first got it but after A)hearing and B)feeling some of the other setups I actually prefer this one.
