I just got done wet sanding and buffing my new paint job last night. I was almost done except for painting the new front bumper and that will be here friday. Well i guess that doesnt matter because on my way to visit some of my friends that are home for the summer a stupid ******* deer runs right into the passenger side front corner of my car destroying the fender completly, bent the edge of the door slightly, and chipped a little section of paint on the hood where the fender rubbed against it. I just cant believe this ****. I hope my luck gets a lil better when i fix it this time. I will post some pics of the paint when i get it done, it did look really good.

DEER WHISTLES DONT WORK!!! I live in Kansas and deer are the #1 leading cause of vehicular damage. They rate even higher than driving under the influnce, or teenagers driving. In the 5yrs that I've been driving I've hit/been hit by 3 deer. And I live in the state capital. 2 years ago, my grandma hit/got hit by 3 deer all within a 2 month period. They are an incredible nuisance. (sp) That was actually the death of my 2nd 240sx. I had just paid it off 2 weeks before and I hit a doe. Liability only. Anyway, I know plenty of people that have had those damn whistles on thier can and have still just smacked the crap out of deer. The best thing to do is to NOT PANIC. DON'T slam on the breaks. Turn you lights down to parking lights, and slow down as quickly as possible w/o making your tires squeal. Unfortunaly, it's an animal and you can't predict what it's going to do so don't try to guess. Don't turn your car, just keep going straight. They will USUALLY either turn back, or keep going when you get clos enough. Sometimes though they just completely freeze. Just hope that it's not a big deer and it comes up over the hood and through the windsheild. It can kill you pretty quick to have a 700lb buck end up on your lap. Damn the deer. I say, INCREASE THE WOLF POPULATION!!!

Surprising that they don't have game fences. In northern AZ, where there are lots of elk, deer, etc, ALL highways have game fencing.

Some still wander onto the road somehow, but it's rare.

Thats easy. We have stupendo deer here and they just jump the damn things! No seriouly though, it's not too much of a problem on the major Highways because they put up higher fences. But We have 3 Major Highways in KS; I-70, hwy75, and I-35 and thats about it. And a lot of those don't have the taller fences on most of the road. The truth is that Kansas is so damn spread out, 98% of our road system is 2 lane highways and dirt roads. It would take decades to do that to just the highways. Just not economical. Ofcourse if we lengthen the deer seaon to the whole year for a couple of years and increase the wolf poplulation, our problems would be solved.

Yeah the deer died. I jumped out of the car ready to kick the **** out of it but i tried to refrain myself since i had to ladies in the car with me. On a lighter note they made me feel better the rest of the night......lol. It will be ok thanks to connections in the auto parts business. I'll have a new fender and parking light tomorrow along with my new bumper. I was also lucky enough to have saved enough extra paint to redo what was destroyed.

Also i think those deer alert things make them run out in front of you. Everyone I know that has them still hit deer. The deer population is rediculous around here also.

Weather or not the deer whistles work I think it's worth the $8.00 to buy them, just with the small chance that they do.
