3 dash lights coming on intermittantly

I'm randomly getting the red parking brake light, the red light that looks like the blue high beam light, and the red battery light coming on at the same time while driving. They stay on for a couple of seconds then go off.

Anyone ever heard of this or know what it means? I am going to get my friend's scanner on monday to see if there are any codes.

Get your alternator tested ASAP.

Yay...figured it might be that.

I'll go and get it tested. I think I have read that people on here say to only use OEM alternators. If I do that I'll have to wait a couple days for it to get here after ordering from infiniti parts usa. Is it really that important to get an OEM one or is it more important to just get another one on there?

Alternator tested fine. Interesting I'm thinking maybe the belt is slipping a bit? could that cause this?

How do you guys determine how tight to make the belts? the belt deflection numbers in the manual are based on a certain force being applied which I can't measure, which in turn makes the deflection figure useless to me.

Ive also got the same problem...its started about a week ago. What ive noticed is it makes a whining noise, alternator. The belts are tight. I still haven't figured out the problem. I went for a long drive yesterday and the j overheated a bit(coolant level was just fine). at a red light, no lights appear. but when i step on the gas. as the rpms increase the 3 lights get brighter. its got 116k on it. Im planning to service it by Infiniti @ 120k. something unusual eh? performance still the same though. even though the belts are tight i still think something is slipping. Hope all is well with your J!

Check your battery is it good? Hook up a multimeter. If your getting 9.6v and above your battery is good, if below you need a new battery.

Check your ECU for codes.

My alternator died a slow death. It would test good. When I completely changed it all problems went away. To avoid headaches stick to an OEM Nissan alternator. Aftermarket ones are a disaster.
