First of all, I searched for my problem(on site) no luck. my 93 j30t is not firing on cylinder 3. its a dead miss in engine. when i remove coil plug it makes no diff. in how it runs. I swapped coils with other cylinders but no luck, still the same. then bought an ignition module(book calls it a power transistor unit) from ebay, (used one) and still no luck. cylinder 3 no fire. love the car, became a big fan of infiniti after buying this car. Awesome site!! keep it up, very useful info..

Check the fuel injector.

it is then probably a dead injector....... make sure first that the connection to the #3 cylinder injector is clean.... get a digital ohm meter, with the engine off and warm (NOT HOT), remove the injector connector, set the multimeter to the lowest setting for a resistance reading (OHM), place the probes on the injector terminals (the injector itslef, not the wiring), the reading should be between 10.5 and 14 OHM, anything above 14 would indecate that the injector is gone and needs replacing......

if the resistance is good, then take out the spark plug, and check for correct ignition (refer to the service manual for this step)....

finally (worst case) it could be that the piston rings are gone or a valve that god burnt..... so as a final step, i would check the engine compression using a compression tester (i think the procedure is also outlined in the service manual, but if it is not, then let me know, i'll explain it)....

i hope this helps, good luck
