well guys, id like to get an Apex i' N1, as i like hte way they sound, or possibly a HKS Hyperback, but im pretty sure hte apex is a 3inch, i plan on going SR within about a year to 18 months or so, and id have to buy a 2.5'' now, and then have to buy a 3'' when i get the turbo engine. Should i just get hte 3'' or would it totally suck down my low end?

It's gonna have a minor effect on your bottom end, but it should actually free up some topend power...

Hell, it's only for a while. You've lived with it being slow all this time...:)

Let me know if there's anything I can do - I know "this guy" *ahem* who builds some pretty kickarse *ahem* catbacks for the 240.... :)

Any specific reason why you have that enormous exhaust and a cone filter.. I'm assuming your looking to boost right?

I think he means the tip from the look of it, piping is 3" maybe. Pic could be misleading, let us know.

might as well get the 3" now so you don't have to spend more money later. I'll be going with a 2.5" later this week, but I'm not planning on boost unless I can get a CA clip for around 1400.

I have a 3" catback on my KA and didn't notice any low end torque drop. I thought it did and put a tunable silencer(junk) in the end of it. There was no difference so I took it out ASAP sounded like chit! Muffeled up sounding. I like the one I have just a alot to polish.

Here's a ? Do you like straight or angled exhaust?

i bought the gt spec with intentions to eventually go ka-t with either the greddy kit and fmic . Also i bought it for the wow factor it seems to give people. Nothing like a girl saying oh my god thats huge about you then realize shes talking about the muffler tip:( The only problems i'm having with it is that it is very loud which is cool but at times its alil to loud when your trying to get around town without attracting cops (small town with cops that have nothing better to do) And when you downshifting it backfires like crazy in quick little pops its a good deal though was 469 at enjuku and 85 for shipping to illinois and got here in 5 days.

i say just go with the 3" now since youre going to boost it later. i mean why spend more money than you have to?

my 240 is just gonna get 3" straight pipe. its only for track drifting anyway.

Well IMO I do like the sound better but it is loud azz hell. Really loud when it echo's off cars, retaining walls, bridges, and in Asheville tunnels lol. Stay off Patton Ave with it.

rofl wait! You don't need your apex'i n1 to be mandrel bent. it's already angled that way.

the reason they're angled is to have less bends in the piping to improve exhaust flow. usually right before the last resonator (the big canister you see) they make a horizontal pipe to make the muffler sit horizontal. Now, apex'i i believe started to not make the horizontal pipe, and instead, made it angled to improve exhaust flow, also avoiding another bend in the exhaust pipe.

hmm that was the only thing keeping me away from getting aftermarket exhaust because everyone states you lose bottom end power....

well AZhitman I might be hitting you up soon on that exhaust you have the hookup for....

Do you have twin tip (s13)? Also is there a silencer? is it needed?

maybe 2 3/4? I may or may not boost in the future... I have not decided yet

I think id rather the single N1, however it is a nice exhaust, but i also dont really have the money right now. I dont wanna sound like an *******, but ive seen cheaper also, sometimes as low as 25o plus shipping in good condition, i like your 'gold' look though

I laugh every time I see one of those monstrosities grind on a speedbump or a driveway.

"Mandrel-bent" does not have anything to do with how the muffler sits. Mandrel-bent means the piping for the ENTIRE system is bent in such a way that the entire inside of the piping retains a constant diameter (for better flow).

The "angled" muffler has nothing to do with improving flow, regardless of what they'd like you to think. It's purely an appearance thing, as is that enormous canister. It is a good system, just more style than substance.

I really need to work on my "Top Twenty Exhaust Misconceptions" list for the BRM website... :)

my exhaust comes out at an angle but it does not have any clearance issues. probly the same clearance as the stock exhaust. plus the one less bend they have to make gives you about 15hp
