I own a 2011 3.5sr a/c with a cvt, and I love everything about it. Obviously I shopped around before I bought my car and looked at other vehicles including the mustang, camaro, and genesis coupe. Have never had any regrets with the choice I made. But obviously I'm preaching to the choir here.
Anyways, recently someone in my neighborhood bought a 2011 v6 manual transmission (eventually talked to him) camaro. This guy has the same schedule as I do. I see him most mornings when pulling out of the neighborhood to go to work, and we take the same roads to get to the freeway. Basically this guy drives like an a**hole, drives it like he stole it, in and out of traffic, cutting people off, the whole nine. So days and weeks come and go until eventually I'm like F it, let's see what's up. I get up next to the guy and gas it a couple of times. Obviously he is all about it. We hit the next light together and it's on. Run them up to about 70mph and I get about half a car length on him. The next light we hit is the on-ramp to the freeway. When i get on the freeway I'm doing about 50. I wait for him to get next to me and we both gun it. My alty steady pulls on him, everytime his camaro shifts he drops back about a foot (gotta love the cvt). I hit 100 and then back off it. I take my exit to go to work and start my day off with a smile.
My biggest problem with mustang and camaro owners is that they think there cars are the be all end all of performance. Unless you have a ss camaro or a 5.0 gt mustang you really don't have s**t to say and those cars are in a different class and price range anyway. I would also like to add that in 2010 the v6 camaro was rated at 304hp and in 2011 they bumped it up to 314. But they actually didn't change anything, just the number on paper. Wtf?
