i heard there was a 09 Maxima trying to race everyone by my friends house.... just happend to be i was stopped at a light and the guy pulled up next to me and him and his friend were hella checkin out my car..... so i ended up turning instead of going straight (he was turning) and we did a quick little race and i pulled pretty easy but thats with my cut-out open and having my car screaming all the way down the street (it gets hella loud)..... so ya, i pulled on a new maxima pretty easily...

BUT i was going fast and hit a dip in the road and hella bottomed out lol pulled into a parking lot to check out my car and only thing that happened was the cut-out got shaved down a lil bit (which i wanted to do anyways for more ground clearance)

???

Maxima has the same platform as the altima coupe (D platform) and where did you get the 263 number?

290 horsepower and 261 pound-feet of torque for the 09 maxima

You' re right, Mehdi (I had 09 accord in mind). I provided the wrong info about HP .Weight is jsut shy of 3600 pounds for the Maxima model. What is ours ? It should specify it on the inside of the driver's door panel.

Hmmm, I think if you pulled on him pretty easily then there wasn't a race

from my understanding... the new maxima is ONLY available in CVT...

i rented an 09 maxima 2 weeks ago... IMO, its quicker than the A/C, even with its extra 400 punds

well i didn't pull on him like it was a civic but more easily then some other cars i raced.... plus it was 2 big guys in the car and i was by myself in my car with the windows up and air conditioning off...... they were racing for sure

Pretty sure that's the Accord Coupe concept, but the production model is pretty close to it.

The 3.5 weights 3,289lbs and the 2.5 weights 3,118 lbs (both with CVT). Manuals are a tad lighter.

Wrong 2009 Accord V6 has 271HP and 254 ft-lbs TQ. And not to bust chops but it should have been a close race. Maxima 0-60 is 5.8 sec so it should be neck and neck. You racing yourself would win in your A/C but you wouldn't "pull" on yourself...what, wait don't we all do that

no actually, you are wrong.... i didn't argue about the 2009 having 271 hp, i said the 2008 had a tiny bit less HP (268hp actually.... i knew it was in the 260's)

http://autos.msn.com/research/...id=-1

also, my car isn't stock... i had my electronic exhaust cut-out open which pretty much bypasses the muffler and i got a 13.912 with my muffler unbolted (my cut-out is also before the cat which would make me even faster, probably a 13.8) and the new maxima does 14.5 so thats more then .5 secs slower then me. PLUS he had his friend in the car which will make you like .2 or .3 secs slower so that would put him at about 14.7 or 14.8 when i can do a 13.9 and maybe possibly a 13.8... also don't take any of this the wrong way, i meant it with no sarcasm

heres a link to a road test of the new maxima doing 14.5

Even with all that. In actuality your car shouldn't run that much faster with the exhaust cut out. I mean, with the numbers your claiming, 13.8 and such, thats a half a second faster than stock. With only that cutout. To get a half a second on the track means 100 more horsepower. Do you think you pulled 100 horsepower with your cutout? No. Also, doesn't matter that the Max does 14.5 in the quarter. You didn't race a 1/4. In fact, you said you two barely ran them. So, in actuality, the 0-60 number that they hold at 5.8 is what you should really be paying attention to. Sorry to burst your bubble. Just logical that you wouldn't "smoke" the new Max.

ya i didn't smoke the maxima, i just pulled on it more easily then i expected.... an older accord coupe V6 the other day was waaay faster and it was a closer race..... and about 0-60, we were going from a roll so say about 40-100 mph.... but ya i was wondering how much HP the cut-out gave me or going with no muffler, it made a big improvement in times..... wish CVT were dyno'able so we could see how much of an improvement

I am really diggin' the new Maxima. Beautiful car, a LOT more room than the A/C, more power to compensate for the weight... Also, CVT has sport setting?

I will probably trade in a year or so...
