I'm sure these are not new questions, so please don't flame me.

- Is 91 gas required or recommended? This has been a debate issue with Spec V owners which I was one. IMO, I never noticed any difference using 87-89-91 on the QR. What about the VQ?

- SE is the "sports" model. Is it a bit lower than the other models? Or same ride height?

- What kind of MPG do you get? I know we all drive differently. Meet EPA numbers on MPG? Always above? Below? Looking at CVT trans.

- Does it cost "a lot more" to insure a 3.5SE? My Spec V cost like a Benz, where is it would be dirt cheap for me to insure a Ford Focus. Consider they are both "econo" cars.

There is a sweet 3.5SE for 23K (new 08) with my name on it. Just not sure if it's for me with the current gas prices.

Nothing wrong with the 2.5S. Just that if I was not considering the VQ, I may consider something else. I really like a Z or G35. But it's out of the question with kid$.

TIA

Post

you should look at previous posts you will find much more info

However,

The 3.5 runs better (more hp) with 93. I have run it with 87,89 and 93 octane and i see increased MPG and feel it with 93. I only have a K&N mod

The 3.5 SE has larger wheels and has better handling as compared to the SL. I liked the ride of the SL better since I do mostly city driving

The insurance on my 3.5SL is not bad at all. At least compared to my 04 Mustang Mach1 ....

The VQ is an awesome engine-my first Nissan and very happy with it.

Good luck

As far as the gas goes ... I have only used 89 ... don't feel like paying the extra $0.20/gal for premium. My Coupe runs just fine.

I consistently get 25 to 26 MPG in my 3.5 CVT Coupe. This is when I drive "normal" ... when I let the kid inside me get out, well the 3.5 has never let me down ... not in my Coupe or in my Maxima. My car flat our screams, I would just hate myself for years if I bought a 2.5 - No, I'm not putting anyone down, I just had my fair share of small cars with small motors. I was weaned on small block Chevy's & crave lots of HP. I wanted the larger motor because I know the way I drive....

As far as insurance I can honestly tell you that it's cheaper to insure my 08 Coupe than my 1995 Ford F-150. I questioned my insurance company about this & they told me that my Coupe is cheaper because of all of the safety features ... air bags, VDC ... Etc.

I'm with you on the Z ... I just feel it in my bones that I'm just gonna have to buy one ... Just wish I could justify the GT-R.

Good luck on the purchase - You'll love the car!
