Hello all,

Who else with a 3.5 has noticed that when the engine is shut down there is a sound from under the hood that continues for perhaps 5 seconds after the engine stops and makes me think there is a motor spinning down. Maybe that's exactly what it is.

Anybody know?

3.5 6mt, same thing, not that big of a deal, its just spinning down

assuming your clutch is in while the car is shutting off, next time, release your clutch while that sound is going off, youll feel it catch

Thanks for the reply.

What's spinning down? Certainly not the engine. Maybe the dual mass flywheel?

I'll try your clutch in/out idea.

maybe, whatever it is, it has to do with the transmission cuz it catches if you release the clutch before the sound dies off

Although i have a 2.5, I get the same sound every once in a while(however I have the cvt). I'm pretty sure its just the fan spinning down. Sounds pretty cool if you ask me.
