I mentioned before that after our 4 Free Oil Changes from our dealership, I will DIY and use CASTROL (GERMAN) SYNTHEC 0W-30 with K&N Oil Filter every 6-7k/km. I know it Thin and Winter up here isn't that severe. This GC is among the favorites on other various forums and I've been using it on my Acura RSX for 4+ years.

Any other NICO here using Synthetic Oil, what Brand/Grade?

I will be using Royal Purple, I think I read that 5-w30 was recommended, so I will probably go with that. I used royal purple in my Audi for awhile and liked it....mostly because it was purple. I am going to go with a mobile one oil filter, I like them but they are a bit bigger then a usual filter, or at least compared to the one that Audi used.

I plan to let the engine break in on the OEM oil for 1000 miles (should be sufficient for viscosity break down and seating of internal engine components). Then i plan to use Mobile 1 5w-30 synthetic. I was warned by the dealership to use nissan brand oil filters while the car is under warranty to cover my @$$ if there is ever a problem.

For my 3.5 SE Black Premium, I'll be changing oil and filter every 10,000km at the quickie lube place. They usually put on the recycled 10W30 as the price leader and I always go with that. No problem ever.

I am using Mobil 1 full synthetic with a Mobil 1 filter.

Strangely enough, the dealer told me a little "insider's" trick was to put full syn in the second you buy a car and dispense with the breaking-in period of regular oil. However, I've never seen this anywhere else, and most everyone is saying break it in with regular oil.

Oh well, I changed the oil to full syn at 200 miles. Lol! I think it's running ok! Also, it probably didn't help that the day after I bought it, my wife drove it in manual mode without shifting. When she came home, it smelt like burning oil. Haha!
