So just a few days ago on the highway to work, I rolled into 100,000 miles on my 2009 Altima Coupe 3.5 CVT. Here's to another 100,000 miles trouble free! I guess it's both a monumental and sad event, that my coupe blasted through 100k miles in less than 4 years, while nearing it's inevitable demise.

Don't turn your sound up too much, my phone just doesn't pick up the noise inside, which was much louder than this suggests (louder than stock anyway).

...in other news a CVT was heard exploding out of a coupe recently after this post.

Hah no.

But keep an ear out in the next 10 months. I'll be hitting 120k, just in time for Nissan to offer me a new CVT for a 'discount.' ;)

I'm almost at 15,000 and I wouldn't be surprised if I blow something soon. I already need new tires.

I live in Denton and commute to Richardson for work on a daily basis. 72 mile round trip, 6 days a week. That's down/up from 83 miles, 5 days, a year ago. ;) My sister lives 35 miles away, my parents are 45 miles away.

It's kind of sad that my car's aging so fast in terms of mileage though. NADA value puts a -$1900 depreciation penalty on my coupe just based on the miles! Guess I'll be keeping it till the CVT falls off. ;)

2010, 38,000 miles in, every time I drive my car spiritedly, it smells like rotten eggs afterwards (transmission??), and I am soon gonna need new tires. Already replaced the pads twice, and the rotors once (warranty covered that). But with the miles I've driven my car, I will for sure not hit 100k before I get a new car (soonish)... Good luck to everyone!

That rotten smell -- it's the cats probably. I got that smell in my '06 Sentra, '00 Dodge, and randomly, in my coupe as well. No idea what it's from, by I'm guessing the cats heat up or react a certain way to the extra fuel/air pooping outta the engine under a sudden heavy right foot when otherwise it was being driven lightly?

well it makes me feel a bit better that theres a possibility that its not the transmission. Yeah I get A LOT of gurgling and popping out of my exhaust, oddly so, because I have done nothing more to my car than my Nismo cat back and a K&N... It sounds good though, so I'm not complaining. haha

Gurgling and popping sounds like my 3 month old, but I believe most cars with after market exhausts will do that, assuming it's when you let off the throttle/shift etc.

I thought you would get that with a tune of some sort, a higher gas ratio in there, with the excess gas passing into the hot pipes? Oh well, either way, its really great to know my car sounds like a 3 month old...

ROFL well it's not that bad. I just thought the words you used sounded funny. ;) I like that sound, although sometimes it's annoying when I'm trying NOT to sound like I'm racing someone hehe.

So after many months struggling with the decision, I've decided to sell my coupe. Ya'll are first to know before I put it up on Craigslist in the next few days. Title will be in my hands within ~1 week (from NMAC).

Anyone in DFW or near interested please PM me for details/offers.

Sorry to bring you back to this again, but I've already complained about this A LOT! I get this smell every time I use the manual mode, when the RPM goes above 5K. I don't have any exhaust modifications, and I told Nissan about it. They said it was the in-cabin air filter, they replaced it, but the smell is still there. :tisk:

Its probably the cats like CoupeVQ35CVT said. It makes me feel better to know that its probably the cats, and not the transmission.

The smell is far too strong and pungent to be the air filter, it... stings the nostrils

Yup, it actually made sense at first, because the AC is ALWAYS working in here. BUT, I made them change the trunk trim piece (above the license plate) for free. It broke because of the woofers in the trunk lol

So how do we get this fixed, if it really was the cats? I think I'm going to go to Nissan and bug them a little bit :chuckle:
