So as the elusive title indicates, how much longer will we have to wait till we see 3+door cars with 30+mpg and 300+hp? And staying under $30k would be awesome, but doesn't go along with the "+" theme since that would be a "-".

The focus ST is getting close: seating for 4, $24k base/30k loaded, but only 250hp.
If the Dodge Dart SRT4 comes out, it'll be even closer (around 280hp), but still not quite there yet.

So do you think it'll be 2 more yrs? 4 more?

What if instead of 300hp, we use tq.

Electric cars will be able to beat that as long as you can replace the HP metric with something else.

You guys have a new dart? How do you guys like it?
I'm looking at smaller/cheaper cars with the 3/30/300 accomplishment, but a dart SRT-4 would be pretty close. Think I could put a couple car seats in the back?

I have 2 car seats in the back of ours. One for my 5yr old and one for the 2yr old. I really like it personally. Ours is loaded and I don't have any complaints. My wife is deployed so I've been driving it for 5 weeks now instead of the BMW. Stereo is awesome, remote start, heated steering wheel, heated front seats and 8 inches of kickass display make for a good experience.

Drive one.

I really like them asthetically. I think they're going to be a hit. I hope they are, Chrysler could use the money...

While I would never buy one, it would certainly be nice to see a sporty compact that's not cheap-as-Hell for once. Evos and SRT Neons make my build-quality and fit-and-finish senses cry out in terror like the citizens of Alderan upon its destruction by the Death Star. I don't have much experience with the new Dart, but I think the Focus has a DAMN good chance to pulling it off. Supposedly, the new RS will have a turbo 2.3 making 350hp (!!!!). It'll be FWD rather than stupid heavy halfa$$ AWD nonsense. It'll also probably at least offer the option of a clutch since the dual clutch trans that has replaced automatics in the rest of the Focus line is heavier than a lever-shifted box.

Alderon...LOL. That was excellent! Ford mytouch is awful. The good Focus is only available in manual, that's a deal breaker for my wife. The non turbo Focus is...well a non turbo focus with bad tech.

I like my Dart. Brand new loaded with a 100k bumper to bumper for $24,000.
