Ran at the track again tonight. Last time running with the GTi-R turbo and I already bought a GT3071r Heres the best time i pulled.

60ft 2.4211/8th 8.9391/8mph 88.469

1/4 13.241mph 113.226

All this was with no boost controller, only 12psi on stock wastegate. If only i can get traction, spinnin my stock 205's on some stock wheels halfway down the track (hence my low 1/8th mph).

After this run the car started to smoke terribly. Vaccum went down to -15inhg from its previous -20. White smoke puffing out the catch can breather. I gotta compression test this stupid motor to check to see if anything is wrong.

Sounds pretty good to me.. I trapped 113 with my Disco, but pulled a 12.6 ET. So that sounds about right.

^What configuration did you get? I just sold my Disco, and I'm looking at the T2 flanged 3071r.. Looks like it would be a mean street turbo. It's my 'daily/weekend' toy. So I'm not looking for more than 400whp.

I went with the T2 flange GT3071r.

I will also be porting the wastegate flap to prevent boost creep.

That's what I've heard. Port it out a little. I would love to go T3, but T2 spools so fast, and it's awesome for a street car. No need to go over 60-80mph on the street anyways. T2 will work for me!

Project looks good though. Are you TIG welding that up? I just bought one, and I'm so excited to start fabbing stuff and make it look pretty.

So I pulled my plugs to see what the smoking and lopey idle was about.

All spark plugs are clean, no oil on them. But then I look closer and see something. #2 and #3 have a tad of wetness on them. Just slight, so I get my compression tester out and test it.

Low and behold, #2 and #3 have low compression. 30psi on both cylinders to be exact. #1 and #4 have 150psi holding.

Looks like i blew a headgasket. Im using a Cometic MLS and ARP headstuds. I checked the torque on my headstuds and it seemed to be at 75lbs which is weird because I remember torquing them down to 85 lbs last time the MLS leaked.

I am pulling the head and going to inspect for damages.

Don't worry my cometic junk leaked too. I have a felpro now with the same power level and about 20 times the miles the cometic held up to and it is doing fine. My first cometic was defective and cometic replaced it for me, but the second one only held up for about 500 miles. If I were you I'd switch to the felpro, its not like your going to have 800 hp with a t2 anyways. Plus its better than having to pull the head off constantly to replace it.

Quick question: aren't u suppose to retorque metal head gaskets after like 20 miles or something?

well hopefully i can pull similar times since I bought your turbo, lol. that's not too bad for 12psi though with street tires.

Feels good for only 12psi.

The GT3071r should feel even better
