I currently have an R200S VLSD with 3.54 gears & need to change them for 3.13 or something close... but definitely want limited slip - clutch or viscous.

I understand some Pathfinders had a 3.13 differential. So, several questions:
1. Is it the R200S format?
2. Assuming so, anyone know they had some with limited slip?
3. If answer to that is yes, what years/models was it used in?
4. Lastly, if there isn't an LSD version of the 3.13, anyone know what tallest ratio (lowest numerically) I can get with LSD in a R200S is and what application(s) it was in?[/list]

Thanks in advance for any help.

What year Pathfinder are you referring to? Do you want this LSD in front or rear?

The ones with the R200A front diff never had 3.xx ratios. Then ones with 3.xx ratios never had R200 front diffs (or rears for that matter). There’s some interchange between R200 front and C200 rear diffs found on some Nissan trucks and SUVs. The R200s in trucks never had LSDs, but it did exist (rare) in C200 rears.

Thanks for the quick reply Hawairish. I don't actually have a Pathfinder; I posted here because I was told Pathfinders have the same [rear] diff I have but with 3.13 gears (one source advised they were used in V6 2WD models so would have to be a rear diff). My differential is in a custom car I built; it's an MGB with a Ford 302 (5.0L) motor & an independent rear suspension that was built using a Nissan R200S differential (supposedly out of a Skyline). Pics of my car (including a couple that show the IRS & diff can be seen here: http://www.britishv8.org/MG/RobFicalora.htm.

What I'm looking for is a differential with the same external mounting points as my existing R200S, but with taller gears -- preferably in the 3.13 range. It would be for the rear.

Googling around, I found what appear to be R200S differentials with 3.13 gears listed on ebay as Pathfinder 2wd 6 cylinder application. Example is here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/05-06-07-08-09 ... tM&vxp=mtr.

Is the differential in that ebay listing the same case as an R200S? E.g., same mounting points?

And, if none of those came with Limited slip, anyone know if a limited slip from a C200 could be installed in them?

Note, I prefer 5-bolt axle mount flanges but I could use 6-bolt. I have adapters that convert from the Nissan flanges to 930 style CV axles which are common in custom IRS applications.

Thanks again for the help - I know this is not the norm for this board, but I figure who would know more about Nissan differentials than Nissan enthusiasts? I appreciate any info anyone can provide as I really don't want to re-make a new IRS from scratch just to get a better gear ratio for my car.

Hmmm...not sure where my last reply went...but anyway, I forgot about the R51 (05-11?) Pathfinder. Similar gearing to the Frontier and Xterra (in 3.x flavors) but an independent rear suspension R200S. Not sure if the differential is identical (there are usually variants), but they’re usually very similar.

Sorry this skipped my mind...I’m more knowledgeable on 88-04 Nissan trucks and SUVs than 05+...and my opinion of 05+ isn’t great.

Hi Hawairish -

I sent you a PM too. From what I've gathered, none of the 3.13 diffs came with Limited Slip -- so any thoughts on ability to swap the 3.13 ring/pinion to my existing 3.54 VLSD Skyline diff? Or maybe swapping the LSD from my diff to the Pathfinder/Frontier/Xterra referenced above? Ultimate goal is the taller gear ratio but with LSD.

Other detail on my existing diff is it has the 5-bolt flange axle stubs. Not sure what spline count &/or diameter if there are multiple of those?

Replied via NPORA. It's a long one :)
