Still not enough to get me anywhere near a Leaf. The fit and finish on the Nissan vs the Bolt, Volt, or even the Soul is dismal. Stepping up to the price of the nicer interior puts you into an entry level luxury hybrid (or used electric) market.

If they got that to 5k, there might be a larger number of takers. I'd wager that this promotion isn't going to be as fruitful as they hope.
The new EV Kona from Kia is where I'd put my money- especially for double the range and the same price point.

You pretty much summed it up with your first sentence. I also don't think battery technology has evolved enough...yet... for me to consider a pure electric like a Leaf vs a hybrid like a volt/bolt. Distance per charge on a Leaf is still too limited, plus as the batteries age, and the temp drops, the range decreases. At least with a Volt, that little gas motor extends the range.

At around $52,000 here (plus on road/dealer costs), they'd have to add a zero to the end of that rebate to get me interested.

Problem with the Leaf is it's still a Versa underneath. And it still looks like one, but worse. But hey at least no CVT???

My money is on the Mitsibishi Mirage EV (whatever the 3 banger 72 crank HP car is called). At least it will have a better range, lol

Pretty much, or a boatload of solar panels to go off-grid or something.
