3.0 V6 turbo 400HP coming

Discussion of Infiniti's amazing (and underrated) sport-luxury crossovers, the EX35 and EX37. For 2014, the EX series will be renamed QX50, in line with Ininfiit's new naming conventions.

I wonder if it will replace the V6 we have now in the QX50 at some point in time

Looks like it should drop right in to the QX50 without an issue. :naughty:

My feeling is that the QX50 won't get the 400 HP version. I think it'll be limited to the sportier trims of the Q50/Q60. Instead, I think the QX50 will get the 300 HP version. Even though it is down on power compared to the VQ37,I believe it has a broader torque curve. Plus, it's probably a hair more efficient than the both the 400 HP version and VQ37.

Sorry guys, though we want the higher HP engine, I think we might be the minority here :) .

From what I have read , the difference between the 300hp and the 400hp is a simple adjustment , I think I read that

To me neither would be desirable. The 3.5 I have pulls hard from the get go, with no lag. Even if they do the two different sized turbos to minimize the turbo lag, neither variant would interest me. Give me a damn SC or keep it NA.

I thought I read that the turbos in the 400 HP version are different than the ones in the 300 HP version. I think the turbos in the higher HP engine have some type of optical sensor that's embedded in them; these sensors measure the speed of the turbos, as I believe they spin much faster than the turbos in the lower output engine. From a hardware perspective, I'm not sure what else is different between the two.

As nice as this sounds, I think your opinions are going to fall upon deaf ears at Infiniti. It looks like a good number of manufacturers are moving to smaller displacement turbocharged engines and Infiniti is on the bandwagon. Shoot, who knows how long it will be until petroleum fuel powered cars are replaced by battery power... and then when cars will be self driving shortly thereafter.

Sadly, i agree with you somwhat. But, i don't have to buy one... and there is their problem. plenty of crap that never made it beyond a year or two even with government giveaways of our money to entice customers. they go turbo then ill buy something else. no brand loyalty here. that's where mercedes blew it. nice looking but underpowered.
