D21 and D22 4 cylinder Trucks Question

Are the stub shafts the same between 2wd and 4wd trucks?

I already know that the Xterra stub shaft is different and will not fit a 2wd 71C transmission. I also know that the 2wd V6 stub shaft will not fit a 71C trans either. I need to come up with a driveshaft for my H233b swapped 2wd HB and I want to go one piece. The shaft that came out was for an auto and does not fit the 71C trans either. I'd like to use a driveshaft from a reg cab 4wd manual and have it lengthened accordingly but no where on the net can I find if the stub shaft is the same coming out of the transfer is the same as the 2wd. Anyone?

"Stub shaft"? Sorry man, I'm not sure what you're talking about.

You might be better off just going with a custom 1 piece shaft. Just measure from flange to yoke, and give them the type of flange and spline, etc.

Stub shaft= the piece that slides into the transmission. In order to make a one piece I have to have both ends for them to make it with. I only have the rear section so far. If a 4wd shaft works that opens up my options at the junk yards.

If i provide the part it's the difference between a 600 dollar driveshaft vs. a 150 dollar length change job. $600 driveshaft in a $400 truck = no go.

Ah, the best I could do for you would be to check that same situation on a D40.

Would be great except no D40s in the yards I go to. Lots of 4wd D22 and D21 trucks though.

4 cylinder is different than 6 cylinder, automatics are different than manuals on the yokes. For the rear flange, you basically have 3 types:
6 bolt
4 bolt large
4 bolt small (4 cyl specific)

Let me know if you need anything else. If you give me your email address, I can send you more specific stuff.
