well.. im am going to take part on this quest to change my awesome 2WD HB into a 4wd Monster lol... I might have a 90s 4cyl HB coming to me.. so im going to transplat the 4wd IFS system over along with transmission... Any suggestions and or tips or comments would be fun!

Honestly, not worth the effort. Just get a 4wd and leave the 2wd as a 2wd.

haha.. I dont see why though... I have a shop that I can do the work in... And if I can get a donor 4x4 with complete driveline for 600$..... Everything could be swapped over... Only thing would be time... Only reason i want to swap mine... is for mileage... my truck is only at 76k as a 87...

The 4x4 IFS won't simply bolt up - the frames are different in the front and all suspension hangers will need to be fabricated. It has to be done just exactly perfect if you expect it to live and to be able to be aligned properly. It's going to require significant fab work. If you're hell bent on a 4x4, take the transmission and Tcase from the donor truck, and source an '80-91 fullsize Grand Wagoneer Dana 44 front axle and fab a front spring hanger and shackle mounts and do a solid axle swap at the same time.

Or just build the 4x4 donor truck up.
