First it was the crank sensor

and now.. when I turn the steering wheel it clicks and I can feel it under my feet. Its back at the shop for overnight observation... my Versa's starting to suck.

they are replacing the entire driver side strut assembly.. at first mechanic told me he didnt hear anything and that it was simply the electronic stability control with the power steering and it was suppose to make that noise.. i was like WTF.. cars arent suppose to CLICK. Then I told him to take off his boots and feel the clicking... then he felt it. This morning they called and said they heard the loud clicking so they will replace the entire front strut assembly.

REMEMBER when you take it in, tell them to take off their steel toe boots so they can feel the clicking, not try and HEAR the clicking.

PS mine was 3,700K miles

Strut assembly? I'd be surprised if that fixes the problem.

On FWD cars, clicking noises are usually made either by CV/DOJ Joints that have failed, or failing wheel bearings.

I had something that was more of a periodic crunch noise when I turned, which was my torque rod.

Does it happen only when turning one direction? Is there a low pitched (and probably faint) "pulsing" noise when you get up to speed?

If the answer to question 1 is yes, I can almost guarantee it is one of the two. If the answer to 2 is yes, it's probably a wheel bearing.

Struts usually make a banging or squeaking noise when they fail, and you'll usually also notice that the ride is really rough.

The above solutions only hold true if the vehicle is in motion. Standing still your dealing with a whole new set of problems.

True. If this happens at a standstill, you're talking about steering pump, rack, pinion, steering column mounts... or something similar.

And unlike most cars, you shouldn't feel anything if you turn the wheel at a dead stop. On a car with a mechanical steering pump, it might cause an odd vibration, but not with the electric pump.

I did read on their website that they only pay reimburse rental car fees for customers with some type of plus package.

Nissan does not pay rental reimbursement to my knowledge. Individual dealers might, or they might have loaner cars. When my clutch started slipping less than 24 hours after I bought my V, my dealer got me a rental. They were not so kind the other 4 times I had to take it to them for service, they gave me the shaft.

Yeah, I'll lay you odds is was the bearing that was the actual cause. nice of them to replace a bunch of unnecessary parts at the same time. I guess at least you'll have a little less wear on them.
