Hi there,

How do I turn off auto dimming mirror as there is no power button on it?

I have checked the manual and it shows about power button but mine doesn't have it. Its standard auto dimming and not with HomeLink.

Thanks,
Vijay

If you have the automatic anti-glare rearview mirror, then yes it does. There's a button below the mirror glass that turns it on/off. It's between the sensor and the light that indicates if it's off or on. BTW, there's another thread were owners of 2nd gen Rogue's complained that this was no longer a standard feature.

Here's the page from your owners manual:

If it is an auto dimming mirror, it should have an on/off switch. I've seen those types of mirrors in many different brands of vehicles, and they all had an on/off switch. So is the little light on? Do me a favor and post a picture of your mirror.

- Is this normal or its missing a cover to hide the cable connects to the mirror?

Just when I think I've seen everything. That looks like some cheap aftermarket mirror the dealership installed. The OEM version has the wires hidden by a cover and the mirror looks like this:

I can't make out the numbers on the back of yours. If you can read them, try and Google them to see what comes up. I'm willing to bet it's not a genuine Nissan part.

Thanks again. This is brand new car that I bought. Can the dealership install after market item?

Absolutely. Adding stuff like chrome trim or pin-striping to make a vehicle stand out is one way to pique interest in a car that may have sat on the lot too long. Also, if someone expresses interest in a car, but wants something added like the auto dimming mirror, they'll do it to make the sale. It's possible that's what happened, then for some reason the deal fell through.

But I believe auto dimming mirror with power button is standard and OEM part should be installed in SL premium package right? I got to make another trip to the dealership on this..Thanks for your prompt response which helps a lot.

Nice work Rogue One.

That mirror is not a Nissan mirror.

Unfortunately it doesn't look like with the 2015 SL w/ premium package comes with the auto dimming mirror. It is listed as an accessory. It is not listed under standard features.

I could be wrong, but I just went to the site and built it.

Sadly no, the auto dimming mirror is no longer standard as part of the SL premium package. The Auto-dimming Rearview Mirror with HomeLink and Compass is the only one offered, but as a stand alone accessory. The non-HomeLink/Compass version is no longer offered for the Rogue.

Rogue One:
Part number found:E11 015892
Result shows as 2013 Nissan Maxima rear view mirror. Most of the pictures of this model have power button and not sure where this dealership able to get this one without it.
I'm totally disappointed with them on this.

It may have been a Nissan part at one time. A lot of those interior parts are made by Gentex and sold to both OEMs and aftermarket suppliers. This looks just like your mirror, but with the Ford branding on it.

If the invoice says it has an auto dimming mirror, I would go back and insist on a Nissan one. If not, then you have no real gripe unless you want the manual one. I bet if you buy the style with the power switch, it uses the same wiring harness with no additional changes by you. Since they ran the wiring for you, I bet you have many more aftermarket choices than the one they gave you. I personally would be interested in trying one that has a dash cam built in...but mine came with the homelink version and I actually use that function so I haven't messed with changing it.

Ferrisfan is right, to a point. There's a pin-out difference between the regular auto-dim vs the homelink version, so they couldn't be easily swapped. However, the one you have probably could be swapped for an actual Nissan one. Honestly why bother? I had these mirrors on both my Rogues and the Buick I'm currently driving, and I've never had a reason to turn it off.

Contacted the dealership and here's the response from our sales rep:
This is the correct one for all Canadian Models. There is no power on/off button in the mirrors. The car manual might show a different model that is used in US vehicles, but all our SL Premium packaged Rogue have the same auto dimming mirrors with the same wiring.

At times, I would like to have power button to turn off to get clear view of vehicles behind me. May have to visit couple of other dealership to find out or contact Nissan Canada directly.

Checked with another dealership and Auto dimming mirror doesn't come with power button.
Contacted Nissan customer relations and they said "if so equipped". This one not equipped so it doesn't.

Wonder if it's just a Canadian thing?

I believe so. Canadians are not so lucky to get all even though we pay premium for SL...

That is strange as I also have a 2014 SL with premium package Canadian model and mine come with an auto dimming mirror with off button.

Well I guess that was a dealer add on. It can be a OEM that they installed at the dealership.

Don't know if it has changed for the 2015 & 2016 models ?

I double checked my brochure and the auto dimming mirror is standard on a 2014 Canadian SL. I know I didn't pay extra as I had them change it to a homelink one and I kept the original.

I have a 2014 SL premium and it does come with the auto-dimming with off button. Anyone know if I need to do all the wiring to change if for a Homelink model?
