hi, do you guys know of a way to keep the vents in close (recirculate) position after turning off the airconditioning? because it keeps defaulting to open (fresh air) vents after turning off.

I assume that is intentional. When you do not have the auto climate control, you are told:

●When parking, set the heater and air conditioner
controls to turn off air recirculation to
allow fresh air into the passenger compartment.
This should help reduce odors inside
the vehicle.

Since the auto climate control selects the mode, I think it always defaults to fresh air on start-up/shut-down.

Ferrisfan is right. You want to use the fresh air mode whenever possible. By only using recirculation, odors and moisture can build up in the vents, duct work, and your cabin filter, which can lead to unpleasant odors in the passenger compartment.

here in the philippines if you keep the vent open you will smell nothing but smoke from other vehicles, so my aircon now blows bad odor everytime i first open the a/c. and if you leave it open in the parking lot the same thing happens. so im contemplating on disconnecting the motor to the opening/closing of the vents or covering the vents, or other ways possible.
