2nd gen - rear muffler shield

Why do some 2nd gen Rogues not have the rear muffler shield? My wife has a 2016 and it doesn’t have it, however, I’ve noticed that earlier models and 2017’s seem to have it.

I have a 2012 and it fell off. The buzzing was annoying. I suspect that's the reason why it was delete from later models. The shield was welded on and the welds broke.

Are you referring to the spoiler on the 2nd gen rear muffler spoiler? It is for aerodynamics, I believe they started off black painted and eventually shifted to unpainted (shiny).

It is usually removed when an OEM tow hitch is/was installed. Does your wife's 2016 have a hitch? Could have been removed at that point.

No tow hitch. Vehicle was purchased new as a 2016 SL Premium. I️ still don’t understand why most 2nd gens have it, and some don’t.
