Hi guys
I recently bought a q45 1997 and I received a code for bad knock sensor and misfire in a cylinder.

Orher than a Nissan dealership where do you guys usually buy sensor at a better lower price??

I will scan the car later today to see which cylinder its the one with the misfire. Thank you for advice and replies

So after doing a obd2test with a scanner
I received faulty p0325: knock sensor circuit on bank 1 and random misfire p0300 :
wiring,egr valve,injector,ecm,ckp sensor,fuel system,

I have read the ks fix there are some on ebay I might buy I bought my maf off ebay and worked great im a regular there. But I read here that nissan oem are better
but very pricey
Has anyone ever had this misfire code.
Im going to do the valve cover gaskets so I figure I do everything at once.

Found more than plenty online from $5 to 7.99 each knock sensor . Not sure if harness are really required.
After doing more research pretty much from 240sx to 300zx G20 j30 including Q45s use the exact same knock sensors.
Any input at all from anyone, go ahead and post
ill be ordering a pair and replacing both since its abit of work to get to them since k.s pretty much send signals for detonations when the car its on im quite sure the k.s replacement should fix the random misfire the vh41 has right now miles are 208k

Hope this helps someone that has the knock sensor issue on their vh41 since its very common on them.

I think that the P0300 code means that one of your coils has gone bad which is a common problem with your generation Q45. Before assuming that you have a dead knock sensor, since the KS code could be associated with the misfire code, try clearing with your code reader and see if the KS code comes back immediatly by itself. If it's the only code that comes up then, yes, you have a dead KS. If it comes back with the misfire code, which may not happen right away, then it could be a secondary code to the coil problem. Q45.org has a tutorial on ohm testing the KS at the harness for the 1st gen Q45 and I suspect the process may be similar in the 97Q45 if you have a bundle of connectors on the engine passenger side next to the plenum.

The cheap eBay KS sensors have proven unreliable for the long term. Even though they're packaged with Nissan labeling they may not be the real thing. Some members have had theirs fail soon after installing them.

I bought OEM Nissan sensors from Ebay last year and so far so good.... before that I bought knockoffs also from Ebay and they didn't work from the get-go. When you get the sensor... look for the Nissan logo outline on the plastic upper rim of the sensor.... also the OEM replacement metal contact surface should be silvery underneath, unless Nissan changed OEM suppliers. I paid $60 for both shipped... shop around... and don't get anything shipped from China...

Be careful.... even though they might be OEM, they might not work properly on your motor, some might be application specific....

These are the ones that FOR SURE will work on the VH41DE...
