I think that the P0300 code means that one of your coils has gone bad which is a common problem with your generation Q45. Before assuming that you have a dead knock sensor, since the KS code could be associated with the misfire code, try clearing with your code reader and see if the KS code comes back immediatly by itself. If it's the only code that comes up then, yes, you have a dead KS. If it comes back with the misfire code, which may not happen right away, then it could be a secondary code to the coil problem. Q45.org has a tutorial on ohm testing the KS at the harness for the 1st gen Q45 and I suspect the process may be similar in the 97Q45 if you have a bundle of connectors on the engine passenger side next to the plenum.
The cheap eBay KS sensors have proven unreliable for the long term. Even though they're packaged with Nissan labeling they may not be the real thing. Some members have had theirs fail soon after installing them.
