2nd gen phone issue

Lately, when someone calls my cell phone, (it's paired) when i hit the answer button on the steering wheel nothing happens. The phone rings a few more times and then goes to voice mail. The car then asks me if i want to enter digits. So, its recognizing that the button is being pushed, but does not connect the call. If i make a call from the phone, everything works as it should and i hear the call through the car's speakers. I can end the call with the other steering wheel button.

Does this seem like a phone issue or a Nissan issue? I have not yet deleted the phone from the vehicle and re-paired it, nor have i restored the infotainment system to factory stock. Figured I'd ask here first.

Any thoughts as to what the issue may be, and how to correct it?

Might help others if you give the exact model year 2014 or 2015 for future people that may have the same problem( you never know if a TSB will come out a year later). Also we would need to know what type of phone? Android or iphone? What OS is the phone running?
Have you tried turning the phone off and taking out the battery (or just restart) and see what happens?
I would first try and unpair it and make sure the phone is deleted then re-pair the phone.

Sorry, doing this from my phone. I thought all that info was in my "signature".

It's a '15. SL AWD premium. Phone is an android running Kitkat 4.4.2, unlocked & rooted.

Everything was working fine for the first 5 or 6 months, and then the phone issue cropped up a few weeks ago. Phone has been power cycled, and did a factory reset on it last week for a different reason.

I can unpair and pair, and will factory reset the radio if necessary, not a big deal...just wanted to find out if anyone else is experiencing this, and/or if there is some other, potential, known fix before i resort to what i mentioned above.
