Best ever: Our son was born on the 4th of July in '84.

2nd best: He is currently serving overseas in the US Air Force. Yesterday he showed up unannounced to spend a surprise 3 weeks staying with his wife and son and visiting with us. What a great surprise!

As a side note, it was the first opportunity we had to get a "four generations of males" picture. My dad, myself, my son and my grandson all together for the first time. We also have a four generation picture of females through my mom, my sister, one of her daughters and her granddaughter.

Happy Birthday, America!

Alas, all good things must come to an end. Put him on a plane yesterday to go back to England.

It sure was nice to have him home. His European tour of duty should be up next May. We're hoping his next assignment is closer to home.

Hard to describe how proud we are of him for going in the service and sticking with it as a career. He's doing well.
