I started getting the "Low Battery Charge" message again.

This sucks!

The shop has a 12 month/12,000 mile warranty, but Ihave driven a little over 20,000 miles in the last 11 months. I did get a MAHOR break on the labor, and the alternator was free, but I still had to pay $225.00 for the install.

At least Tony added some R123 to the air conditioning for me.

The first time, I just changed the battery, and it lasted another 2 weeks, before it drained it. I payed around $550.00 for the first alternator and another $72 for a battery.

I hope this one lasts longer.

OEM alt?

Is this the Q that you've had some BCM issues?

I wonder if you have some kind of draw over taxing the battery/alt?

If you didnt get an OEM rebuild than all bets are off. Unfortunately in the Q you're way better off getting OEM the first time, since its a pain to replace. its not like most other cars where you can have it in and out in 20 mins (IE you can replace in the autozone parking lot upon first symptoms)

I guess I just assumed an OEM alt, since he said he paid $550 for it.

Sorry to hear about it Jeff. I bought a new oem alternator from the dealer when mine went. I didn't want to do the job twice. I did replace my battery too and so far everything has been ok for me. Someone here had an almost new oem alternator for sale for $99 or something like that a while ago. I can't remember who though.

Good luck.

Even used OEM can be fairly useless. My brother's 60k Nissan alternator (1995 G20) lasted barely two seasons.

That sucks Jeff.
