How feasable is it to put a 2002 Q45 engine into a '91 Q45? A friend of mine can get me the motor, tranny, ECU, TCU and all wiring for $2000. None of the parts are jacked parts either. Would it be an easy job or an entire nightmare? I know of a shop that would be willing to do the work, but I need to get an idea what kind of headaches I would come across. Please lemme know! THANKS!!! :D

Can't wait to hear a reply from people more knowledgable than me on this! That would be one awesome answer to the guide problem... :)

Probably a nightmare to bolt up since the platforms are very different, but it could be fun to try!

I'd save the $$$ and go for the JWT ECU/TCU Combo. You'll save thousands in labor and headaches.

The 90-93 Q's already turn more than the advertised 278, add the ECU/TCU and you are probably talking another 25HP for a total of 320.

By the time you manage to wedge the new motor in the car, mount the tranny and get the electrical talking you've spent far too much for hardly any improvements.

If you really want to go all out, just replace the Diff with the 4.11.

I'm running the ECU/TCU Combo and it is by far the best bang for the buck.

BTW: a good plentum clearning will net you 15-20 HP and make that engine sing!

I think it would be kinda neat if someone did that. And while the performance gain wouldnt be so large it would be nice to run such a new engine.

With JWT ecu Possible for 90-93 Q to be 307HP and 330-337 lb/ft.

At least its legal to install a later year engine.............you gotta change the rear diff ratio to mactch the tranny ratio........not sure if you can get 2.81 or 3.2 gear to fit the R200..........otherwise 60 mph in 5th would be 2500 rpm vs 2000 in 90-96Q so highway mileage would be 25% worse.
