So I'm driving mycar back from target. it started fine and ran fine all the way there. I park it at home, and something doesnt sound right so i throw it in neutral (its an auto ). Idle jumps to 2000 rpm and stays right there. Revs up fine but still idles that high. I know it could be the IACV but would it happen like that all of the sudden. Motor is bone stock, only thing I could think would be wrong is that I need to throw some oil in, but that wouldn't do anything... So I guess I'm asking do IACV just sh*t the bed all of the sudden like that? I mean i just drove it literally five minutes beforehand and it was fine.

iacv is a possibility, does the car die when coming to a stop?

I haven't driven it since I parked it for fear of something worse happening to this car. This morning i started it up, i went to 1500 shaking violently and then down to 500, then back up to 1500 repeatedly. maybe it is the IACV...crap.

sounds more like a vac leak to me if it's oscillating up and down...

Also, it could be a sticking EGR valve.

If the idle RPM is at a steady high, check for a sticking throttle plate/throttle cable.

pulled off the intake. Ar filter and throttle were jet black. Cleaned them up and I'm good as new. Thanks, guys.
