Hello! I was wondering if anyone has seen or heard of anyone putting a 2JZGTTE (Supra TT) engine into an S14. I did see one page where these guys wanted to get the best performance/reliability out of their S14, and after trying the SR, RB, and VG, they decided to go with the Supra, and they were praising it up and down. Comments?

Yeah I have seen it done before. Here's a pic of one in a S14. I really don't know what required to do the swap, but I would assume theres a lot of custom fab. and wiring seems like it would be a real pain.

Been done a couple times. Not worth it unless you get a deal on the engine...

Thanks for the input guys!

Florida - Why do you say that it's not worth it?

Mostly based on the overinflated prices the 2JZ goes for in the US. The wiring really isn't an issue as much as most people think...yes it is time consuming, but it is managable if you take the time to do it right. The 2JZ is a MUCH better built motor than any of the RBs...I can say this after seeing the internals on both engines. The RB26 has some serious design flaws to include a poor intake desing which causes cylinder #6 to be drastically leaner than the others, a crappy oiling system which leads to a shortened lifespan compared to other engines.

The 1 & 2JZ don't have any of those problems. The biggest problem is cost, however you can expect to spend the same for an RB26 as a 2JZ. I say go for a 1JZGTE with 5-speed out of a JDM Supra (pre-93). Either 1or 2JZ is better for a USDM 240 chassis due to the turbo(s) being on the passenger side of the engine rather than the driver side with an RB, so you don't have clearance problems with the brake system or the steering shaft.

The two Toyota engines are both good to ~700 HP with no internal mods whatsoever, provided they're in good condition. Both have been proven to be capable of making ~400 HP on stock turbos with a good intake & exhaust system. I drove a 1994 (my ex-wife's) 1JZ Chaser for 4 years & had no problems beating most Japanese sports cars to include RX7s & Skylines with my only mods being boost, intake & exhaust! That's a full size 4-door family luxury sport...
