Best of luck bringing the car back to life, i have always used oem Toyota oil filters no problems thus far.

If i were you i would really look into upgrading your cooling system, i would almost bet thats what caused the BHG. I'm not sure how that radiator kept that car even remotely cool enough.

I'd also recomend moving that fuel filter, as it doesn't look very safe being that close to the turbo.

Yeah. Pretty good bet. That rad needs to be double as thick with a nice dual or triple pass.

Nice project, as long as the shell is clean, not a horrible find. You seem to be on the way to doing it right.

Was this 2jz running at one point in time with the chassis it's in? If so then nice find considering everything is already bolted up and running... well except for the blown headgasket issue. Whats the damage on that?

yeah when I went to get the car I saw the radiator and saw immediately why the head gasket blew, I don't think a sohc radiator was ever designed to cool a 2JZ. But, the car was running, just skipping on 2 and 3. I am still stripping the car trying to get it ready for paint. The only color I can think that I want is a non metallic jet black.... any body have any other suggestions? I'm not doing a body kit or anything like that, I am going for a stock, but very clean look.

any luck with wiring up the tachometer? I am having the worst luck with it. I got the Dakota SGI-8 box. It flashes green meaning it has a signal (using ignitor pin out...58 I believe). When hooked up to the gauge cluster, it is unresponsive. I tried both low and high voltage out.

Tach was taken out and inspected and the connection looked clean (nothing burnt). Have you have any experiences with the dakota box and hook up?
